FLORIDA

SEBRING: Josh Harris reports that he saw a UFO while standing on his front lawn from 10:00 to 10:30 PM on March 18, 1998. Josh states, "At first I saw six bright orange lights in the north east sky that disappeared. Four lights in a line appeared in the eastern sky then also disappeared. On March 21, 1998, MUFON members from Long Island were attending a conference in Gulf Breeze had had a UFO sighting. Later, some were interviewed for the Art Bell Radio Show. I will follow up when I have more details. The craft was caught on tape, and seen for about 15 seconds about 3:30 PM. It was the size of a quarter at arm length and moved fast, faster than a jet. ORLANDO: On March 17, 1998, Channel 9, an ABC affiliated TV station in Orlando reported that a large UFO "shaped like an L. The broad V or boomerang shape craft with bright white lights flew over the small town of Narcoossee, Florida. Located on the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga, Narcoossee is about 20 miles southeast of Orlando. According to McEllis Winterfield, "many people" witnessed "the UFO. One lady claims eleven of her chickens mysteriously died on the spot as the UFO flew over her house." Thanks to Steve Wilson. Note: Several days later Highways 192 & 441 two of the major roads in the area were closed due to an alleged truck crash and toxic spill.

GEORGIA

In 1997, Georgia was the most active state in the country with UFO sightings almost nightly. The UFO pilots appear interested in our newest fighter, the F-22 Raptor under development at at Dobbins ARB that first flew on September 7. Georgia MUFON Director, Chief Walter Sheets writes: "After a relatively quiet few months, UFO activity has returned. There is renewed activity in the Cannonville area just south of La Grange. A UFO with three lights on it was seen floating and blinking in the Hogg Mountain area. Witnesses were close enough to have heard any sound, but there was none. The incident happened on a Sunday night in February, probably the 21st at 2200 hours.

MUFON Investigator, John Thompson also reports "Cannonville, five miles south of La Grange, is hot again. On Sunday, March 22, at 4:00 PM, two sisters who live in Cannonville had two UFO incidents, five minutes apart. The first sister, while driving east on Long Cane Road, saw two bright "silver balls" hanging in the air, just west of Hogg Mountain. The silver balls were about a mile away from her on the eastern horizon at approximately 60 degrees high. The silver balls each had an apparent size several times bigger than Venus and a real size larger than a four-room home. As she watched the southern most UFO "disappeared" straight up in a streaking fashion. The remaining UFO, a few seconds later the second followed according to the 57 year-old witness. Total sighting time for these first two UFOs was 15 seconds." The lady said the UFOs were clearly round and did not look or move like any aircraft she had ever seen. Arriving in Cannonville she ran into her house and told her family what she had just seen. While talking to some of her family her sister went outside to look and saw a low flying small yellow prop plane. She then saw a hovering silver ball and yelled for everyone to come outside. As the family ran out, the UFO disappeared. Apparently, each sister saw the same type UFO, but not together. The wind was 10-15 mph from the Northwest. A call to the Troup Sheriffs Department and 911 showed no reports were made to them about the UFOs.

A Mr. Pierce phoned stating he had located another witness to his August 1996 UFO sighting. Lisa who lives at the foot of the mountain also observed a triangle like object. She stated, "The UFO appeared to be 'scanning' the mountain top using reddish rays that would click on and sort of sweep the area, then click off, on and off, etc." She told him it was the size of a baseball held at arms length. The rays may be related to the red glow Pierce saw near his triangle. John also received confirmation of the huge mother ship incident. He got more details of the bottom of the "HMS Queen Elizabeth" sized UFO. John also had a couple claim they were less than 100 feet from a UFO hovering above power lines during a daylight sighting..

SOUTH CAROLINA

On Tuesday evening, March 10, 1998, Patricia B. and her two daughters, aged 17 and 11, were driving south on Interstate Highway 26 in South Carolina, heading to Florida for a vacation. As they approached Columbia the state capital, the family spotted a UFO. They were travelling at about 65 miles per hour on I-26, just past the Broad River Road exit. "It seemed to be hovering over the highway, "Patricia reported, "I got a very good look at it from underneath. It was rectangular, almost a diamond shape, with unusually bright lights on the bottom and more lights on the top. The lights shining up seemed equal to those shining below, and there were at least 12 or 13 lights. When we firsts saw the object, it appeared to be stationary about 20 degrees above the horizon, about the size of a light on a radio tower. As we drove closer, we went directly under it. Directly overhead it was as big as a basketball held at arm's length. Their sighting lasted for five minutes, much longer than an aircraft is normally observed. CALIFORNIA CIGAR-

On February 28, 1998, at 10:55 p.m., Karl S., a former air crew member with the U.S. Navy Reserve was on a Boeing 747 jumbo jetliner, returning home to Los Angeles from Asia. As the jetliner passed over San Francisco, turning to 170 degrees for its final approach into Los Angeles, Karl glanced out the window and spotted the impossible. "We had just dropped to 30,000 feet and were turning south to fly over the central California valley, "Karl reported. Looking toward Placerville, scanning the full breadth of the mountains, I noticed what I quickly categorized as a slender, dark-colored cloud. If you would hold up a ballpoint pen, you would see the approximate shape." Taking a second look, Karl saw "that the end of the 'cloud' had 'gone up' about 30 degrees from its original horizontal position. I immediately exclaimed that clouds do not tilt up." The UFO "became level again and then rotated in the horizontal. At this point, I described it as a black pencil with the top layer shaved off...At no time did I see any control surfaces." LAKE ONTARIO, CANADA

"LOOK LOOK LOOK!!!!! Look at the color of him! Look at how bright he is! Where did he come from? He's about two degrees elevation, and is actually moving west. He suddenly just appeared at very low elevation as if from nowhere. He did this just because we had decided to pack up due to being freezing cold! This account was recorded on March 12, 1998, by Jennifer Jarvis and a friend, members of the Orbwatch group from Ontario. "Orbwatch is the name of a group of observers that is currently monitoring UFOs on the western end of Lake Ontario thirty miles south of Toronto. This area has long been known for strange lights both over and under the water. Numerous solid appearing UFOs and light orbs have been observed entering and leaving the lake. At 7:30 p.m., a UFO appeared at approximately10 degrees elevation and flew in an easterly direction for about three minutes before descending to four degrees above the horizon. The "orb" changed color from whitish-gold to red as it descended. At 7:37 p.m., the team saw another orb east of St. Catherine’s. At 8:10 p.m., A more solid-looking UFO appeared "whitish in color.. It lowers to about 5 degrees elevation heading east. "Three minutes later, the UFO plunged into Lake Ontario just north of St. Catherine’s. Jarvis reported "The submersion was very clear. CANADIAN CATTLE MUTILATIONS: A cow was found dead and mutilated in February 1998 at the farm of George Giersch near Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada. Giersch found the cow "lying in a pool of blood with its tongue missing, half its face stripped to the bone and a deep slash to its chest." Giersch said, "An incision to the cow's jaw was too precise to be caused by a predator." No tracks were found in the surrounding snow. Giersch left the cow's carcass in place for a few days. "No animal came near until the fifth day, when birds began to land on it." "That's odd. It's a large coyote community here. According to the Ottawa Sun, "Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Alberta officials have concluded that cattle are dying natural deaths and becoming food for predators." Fern Belzil, a farmer and a part-time mutilation investigator, wrote that most of the 50 cattle killings reported by farmers in the past three years were not done by animals. AUSTRALIA

Kingaroy, a town in central Queensland about 150 miles (240 kilometers) northwest of Brisbane, is the site of Australia's newest UFO flap. On Saturday, March 14, 1998, at 6:40 p.m., residents of Kingaroy reported seeing "bright white lights" overhead and near the horizon. Like clockwork, the mysterious lights returned again each succeeding night--at 6:33 p.m. on Sunday, March 15--at 6:26 p.m. on Monday, March 16--and at 6:33 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. During the Tuesday, March 17, Kingaroy people "reported citing a rounded-edged black cube-shaped object carrying a bright white light...The black cube dropped the white light," which fell to the ground. The UFO then "changed direction" to the Northwest, heading straight for Kingaroy. The witnesses had the black cube in sight for two minutes. "The object appeared to be moving faster than a commercial jet. As the object traveled away, and about the same time of the white light impacting the ground, a loud rumbling sound was heard." Thanks to Ross Dowe of the Australia/New Zealand National UFO Hotline. Note: There have been more than 1,000 weird Australian fireball events during the last several years. Often they are multiple events concerning aerial fireballs and associated light energy emission. They involve diesel freight train like noise making fireballs, and some noiseless variants. They are often observed flying long trajectories over Australia.

MOON ICE

The Associated Press: NASA reports scattered pockets of water ice have been found beneath the lunar surface by a robot survey spacecraft that has spent the last month mapping the moon. NASA officials said the usefulness of the water was not immediately clear, because the data from the spacecraft Lunar Prospector show it is scattered in small deposits across thousands of square miles of the lunar poles. ``While the evidence of water ice is quite strong, the water signal detected by the spacecraft's instruments is relatively weak,'' said William Feldman, a Department of Energy researcher participating in the project. ``Our data are consistent with the presence of water ice in very low concentrations across a significant number of craters.'' The data suggest that the water is confined only to the polar regions. Feldman and others estimated there could be 11 million to 330 million tons of lunar water ice dispersed across about 18,000 square miles of the north pole and about 7,200 square miles of the south pole. Finding water ice on the moon is a big boost for tentative plans to establish a permanent lunar base. If water could be mined on the moon, it would ease the need of sending a supply from Earth. Water weighs eight pounds a gallon. It could take thousands of gallons to maintain a permanent moon complex. The presence of water could also enable astronauts to make their own breathing oxygen and to use the moon as sort of a space-based filling station. Water can be split into its chemical components, hydrogen and oxygen. Oxygen could be used for breathing and the combination of hydrogen and oxygen can be used as a rocket fuel. Lunar Prospector was launched in January and put into a 60-mile high orbit of the moon. The 4-foot- long, 650-pound spacecraft is NASA's first return to the moon since the last manned lunar landing mission, Apollo 17 in Dec.1972. The robot craft carries instruments that can detect alpha particles, gamma rays and neutrons, along with a radar experiment. Scientists will analyze the composition of the lunar surface and to pinpoint gravity and magnetic features. The $65 million spacecraft is expected to spend the rest of year mapping the moon's surface. When it runs out of fuel, the craft will crashed into the moon so it would not become an orbiting hazard to future lunar missions. AP-March 5, 1998

PANAMA

Government authorities report of a possible UFO landing in Panama on February 25, 1998,at 0239 Hours. The sighting and touchdown occurred in Santiago of Veraguas in the middle of the country. At 2115 hours reports were received concerning an explosion of a house in the same area. A hole was found in the roof of a Barriada Forestal home. The following night at 2323 hours, another UFO was sighted with three lights of different colors, shaped like a boomerang or triangle. The object was located over the Hill of Cerro Gordo. There was no US Air Force or Panamanian air traffic in the area. There were 15 witnesses of this sighting. Scott Johnson, a Public Affairs Officer for NORAD, responded to our inquiry about the incidents in Panama. He said a careful check was made for the area around Santiago, Panama but NORAD showed no "space-junk" reentering. He also pointed out that the United States Air Force does not investigate UFOs or keep track of "natural phenomenon" such as meteorites entering Earth's atmosphere. Thanks to John Thompson .

CONGRESS

Congressman F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr., Chairman of the Committee on Science has responded to questions concerning the proposed UFO open hearings. He says the "decision, ultimately falls under the jurisdiction of the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics and its Chairman, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (CA). At this point, Chairman Rohrabacher has indicated that the Subcommittee does not intend to pursue the subject of non-terrestrial crafts during this session of Congress." Congressman Sensenbrenner concludes by saying, "No branch of the United States Government is currently involved with or responsible for investigations into the possibility of contact with alien life in Unidentified Flying Objects" and to check with the National Archives, the repository for the Air Force's past investigations. Bottom line: Unless Congressman Rohrabacher changes his mind there will be no hearings anytime soon. While the tone of Congressman Sensenbrenner's letter is friendly it is rather discouraging. I’m sorry to report that one of Ufology’s best friends, Congressman Steven H. Schiff died from cancer. He had a great personal interest in the reported crash of a UFO at Roswell, NM in 1947 and an alleged cover-up.

THE WHITEHOUSE, HAWKINGS SPEECH CORRECTION: Keith Barbour writes: "By way of introduction, I am a physics information analyst by profession having degrees in particle physics and astrophysics and a keen student of the UFO phenomenon. I picked up the March 6th, C-Span Real Audio/Video White House speech by Cambridge University Professor Stephen Hawking and would respectfully like to correct two words. "...the reason we have not been visited..." should read "...the reason we have not been contacted..." "...might descend into a state of brutalization..." should read brutalism..." On analysis, Hawking's statement on UFO's is subtle and rather complex, especially his comments "...why we have not been contacted..." together with "...even without that, there is a very real danger..." Of course, Professor Hawking would have not chosen any of his words lightly, especially to such a distinguished audience that included President and Mrs. Clinton. Sincerely, Thanks Keith Barbour .

Stephen Hawking considered one of brightest men on Earth lecturing on the growth of population and scientific knowledge stated as corrected: "Clearly the present exponential growth cannot continue indefinitely. So what will happen? One possibility is that we wipe ourselves out completely by some disaster such as a nuclear war. "There is a sick joke that the reason we have not been _CONTACTED_ by extra-terrestrials is that when a civilization reaches our stage of development it becomes unstable and destroys itself. "Of course it is possible that UFO's really do contain aliens as many people believe, and the government is hushing it up" I wouldn't like to comment on that. "Personally I believe there is a different explanation why we have not been contacted, but I won't go into it here. "However, even without that, there is a very real danger that we will kill everything on this planet now that we have the technological power to do so. MORE EVIDENCE OF INTELLIGENT LIFE ON MARS

The speculation is increasing that each day NASA is getting closer to announcing they have irrefutable evidence of intelligent life on Mars. Consider for a moment how our lives would change. Hopefully, overnight most of the differences between national groups would end and at least for a while we might work together in our world. Last week, I gave my opinion that recent images taken near the of the south pole of Mars indicated a sophisticated building complex called Nod. The images implied ancient intelligent life on Mars. Several experts assured me the complex was the result of transmission errors and pixilization. I also received several phone calls indicating I was correct. For example, the NASA Pathfinder has uncovered evidence that Mars was once more like Earth than anyone thought. There is proof of former river beds with running water, warm temperatures and an atmosphere. We can speculate that as the atmosphere on Mars deteriorated the inhabitants set up complex facilities to produce oxygen and food. We now know that the south pole area is rich in carbon monoxide and water. Only a fuel or energy source would be needed for establishing buildings for growing plants to obtain oxygen and food. We can speculate if the Martians realized their atmosphere was escaping and the planet was dying they would have several courses of action. First, they would be to signal for help building Giant faces and beacons carved out of rock. Giant greenhouses and self supporting cities with their own atmosphere could be constructed. Finally, they could attempt inter-planetary travel. Realistically only small numbers could be transported to the closest planets like Earth. If this occurred than it is reasonable to assume that evidence could also be found on Earth of this migration.

The Martian faces appear similar to human faces and our Sphinx. Martian pyramids appear similar to our pyramids and our Sphinx. Various Martian symbols appear similar to symbols of ancient cultures on Earth. Perhaps this is all not a coincidence. I visited Cairo, Egypt the place that appears most like the Cydonia area of Mars. The Egyptian word "Al Qahira" means "to conquer. The root of this Egyptian word, "Al Qahir" means "Mars." Why has the god of war always been associated with Mars? Is it just coincidence that one of the oldest cities on Earth is named after Mars. There are even Egyptian writings describing UFOs.

When Cosmonaut Colonel Maria Popovitch visited the US a few years ago. She stated, "The Soviet Phobus II mission had obtained infrared data of a city the size of Los Angeles on Mars." Shortly thereafter the satellite ceased transmitting data. Its last transmission was of a cigar shaped craft. I have her taped interview to prove her statements. These are important times. We may not be alone in the universe after all.
