ASTRONAUTS SAW UFOs IN 1960s

On July 17, 1962, Major Robert White reported a UFO during his fifty-eight-mile high flight of an X-15. Major White reported: "I have no idea what it could be. It was grayish in color and about thirty to forty feet away." Then according to a Time Magazine article, Major White exclaimed over the radio: "There ARE things out there! There absolutely is!"
On May 11, 1962, NASA pilot Joseph Walker said that one of his tasks was to detect UFOs during his X-15 flights. He had filmed five or six UFOs during his record breaking fifty-mile-high flight in April 1962. It was the second time he had filmed UFOs in flight. During a lecture at the Second National Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Space Research in Seattle, Joseph Walker said: "I don't feel like speculating about them. All I know is what appeared on the film which was developed after the flight!" — Editor's Note: To date none of those films has been released to the public for viewing. NEW JERSEY

BATSTO – On April 22, 1999, I interviewed a local high school teacher who had thirty minutes of missing time enroute to work. She has a doctorate in a scientific field and is quite perplexed by her experience. She drives to school each morning from the New Jersey shore through portions of the Wharton State Forest on Route 542. Some parts of the trip are in desolate areas of the forest. She reached a forested area near Batsto at 7:00 AM driving at 55 mph without any problems. She entered an area of relatively denser forest and lost any memory of the next 45 minutes of her life. The next eight miles of road is relatively straight with few places to turn or become lost and is an easy ten minute drive. When she came up to the Route 206, intersection, she realized something was wrong and looked at her watch and it was now 7:45 AM. A ten minute drive had unexplainably taken 45 minutes. She had at least 30 minutes of missing time and she was late for work. She contacted the State Police to see if there had been any accidents, UFO reports and the like along this stretch or road. None had been reported that morning. The thirty minutes of missing time remains unexplained. I gave her a MUFON late pass for being late to work.

OHIO

CLYDE – Kenny Young reports that the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office 'records department has published an account of a UFO sighting. Incident # 99002846 Incident location: Limerick Rd. RT 19 Township Code: GRCK Grid Code: CLY Patrol Area: E Street: Conner Drive. Fremont, Disp Code: 003 Received Date: 4/15/99 at 16:01. Additional Comments: The caller stated that last evening around 9:30 PM when he was traveling home he saw three lights. One was very bright and two were dim lights in the sky. The lights appeared at tree top level, and then disappeared. He believes he saw three UFOs. Deputy C Dearth/7261 1 call on record. -

The Fremont News-Messenger newspaper, dated April 16, 1999 stated, Sheriff's Reports UFO SIGHTING: John Pasch, no age or address listed, 9:30 PM. Wednesday, on Limerick Road near North Ohio 19, saw three lights in the sky about tree level, one very bright and two dim. They quickly disappeared. Believes he saw three unidentified flying objects. End of article.

CALIFORNIA

RIALTO -- Michael, a 44 year old envelope manufacturer had a UFO sighting on April 19, 1999, from 8:10 to 8:12 PM. near San Bernardino. A friend also witnessed the sighting. The UFO came from the Los Angeles area and was headed in an eastern direction. It was extremely bright and was obviously different from any aircraft. It slowed down until it was almost directly above us. We could see that it had four bright hallowed lights. The craft slowed and then completely stopped for over half a minute. We got a very good look at the UFO. Then the lights went dark on the craft, and it flashed two greenish blue lights. At this time, two jet aircraft approached us on the flight path to Ontario International Airport. Afterwards, it shot these very bright red beams (or thruster type) flashes of light in which it repositioned. The four areas that were dark were now lit again and the UFO gained altitude and left in an upward, but angled path, different from its arrival path. I called the UFO Reporting Center and two hours later they called me back to confirm that someone in Lakewood, near Los Angeles also reported a sighting then. FLORIDA ALIEN ENTITY ENCOUNTER CONTINUED FROM LAST WEEK

K.t. Frankovich, a well-qualified wild life expert had an awesome encounter with an alien entity during May of 1992. This is the third installment of her testimony. Last week, we told you k.t. had been warned that there was danger in the Lime Grove behind her home. Walking two of her dogs she had heard the chopping of wood deep in the Lime Grove. Now she stood only thirty feet from a strange entity. Her aggressive black Labrador and giant Schnauzer dogs were strangely docile and lay with their heads on the ground at her side. She studied the entities entire body so not to forget anything. The dogs and k.t. started to walk away from the strange six fingered and four foot tall alien entity, just as if nothing had happened. They walked for about fifteen feet and she thought out loud, "What in the hell was I looking at?" The unidentified fur creature hanging in the tree, particularly troubled her. She was an expert in animals, and could identify almost any with just a glance, but she had no idea what was hanging from the branch. She turned and returned quickly to the previous spot as both dogs became excited and tugged on the leashes. They seemed menacing again and she realized they must have been intimidating the entity. K.t. and her dogs sat on the ground to show the entity they were no threat to him. She had often used this deception with wild animals. Looking around k.t. realized the entity had disappeared. Suddenly he darted out from behind a tree holding the fur animal in a shiny metallic bag. K.t. jumped up with her mighty dogs and started running in hot pursuit. The entity was a magnificent specimen with powerful muscular legs. She said excitedly, "Do you know how a gazelle runs, he had a tremendous spring in his step!" He jumped upward and forward as he ran just like the gazelle, the speedy graceful antelope of Africa. He did not run like a human, but like the swiftest deer. His powerful muscles catapulted him into the air as he ran almost playing with her. He was more than an Olympic athlete he was incredible. He seemed to slow down so that the dogs and k.t. could catch up. They ran neck and neck a few rows of trees apart. As they ran she could hear inside her head the words, "Biente-Biente." a friendly welcome to come hither in Spanish." A friendly come here. He almost seemed to fly through the air as he bounced along. I suggested, "The entity may have been use to a much stronger gravity field." He moved as our astronauts jumped and ran on the moon. Ahead was a densely overgrown area with vines covering the lime trees. He ran into the natural tunnel. She suddenly ran into a powerful wall of stench. She stopped and bent over nauseated. The foul odor was a combination of sulfuric acid and formaldehyde. It burned her nostrils. She thought, there must be a whole group in the tunnel. Was she outnumbered? Was this a trap? He had deliberately let her catch up. She felt danger, and knew her best course of action was to get out of their fast. She could smell the anger and ran with her dogs for her life. By the time they ran home it was dark. Both k.t. and her dogs were exhausted.

The next morning, perhaps too inquisitive, she returned to lime tree the entity had been cutting. The big branches he had cut off were gone. She followed the route they had taken the night before, but except for the missing branches, there was no sign that anyone had ever been there. Not even foot prints were visible. Editors Note: Why were aliens breaking branches of the growing lime trees. They must use them for something, possibly for food. They appeared particularly interested in the lime tree branches, that can be grafted to grow on other trees. They may have also been taking limes, but they specifically wanted the branches. On February 25, fourteen witnesses saw a UFO pickup a 1400 pound Elk in Washington State. In the past, we have also reported numerous cattle mutilations and craft entering and leaving fishing waters. It is reasonable to assume they are foraging for food, collecting building materials and conducting mining operations. The small mouths infer the digestive system may be designed to use mainly fluids. Generally, when cattle mutilated bodies are found their bodies are drained of blood and fluids and soft tissue has been removed. A chemical analysis of these elements indicates that a human could maintain nourishment on this type of diet. One abductee I interviewed, was told the aliens mainly eat a vegetarian diet, particularly grains. Sulfuric acid and formaldehyde odors at the tunnel like opening may indicate fertilizers, preservatives or disinfectants. Do we have a chemist who might speculate on the reason for these odors?

TAUNTON, SOMERSET - Adam Stokes reports that on April 14, 1999, he saw a flying object that looked like a rocket ship. It was red, white and blue with a light on the bottom. GLYNFACH MOUNTING, WALES -- Gordon Mullins reports that on April 14, 1999, he saw a large bright light was hovering over the mounting then it disappeared and then came back again at 10:30 PM. GLENROTHES, SCOTLAND -- Dave Ledger reports that on March 30, 1999, in Fife, I was driving home around 9:00 PM, when I looked high in the NE sky. I saw a very bright orange light hovering, slightly moving downwards. I stopped the car and watched it for about twenty seconds. Gradually it burned out. It looked like the color of fire and it was very bright. First I thought it to be a planet, but it moved too fast. I stopped the car and opened the window but I could not hear any sound. The conditions at the time were clear sky, almost full moon and fairly warm for this time of year. Thanks to UFO Scotland member, Lewis Burt for this sighting report.

FALKLAND HILL, SCOTLAND -- March 30, 1999, The first skywatch was a complete washout due to the weather. The second shoot went well and we even managed to have a sighting around 9:00 PM, whilst we were up on a hill. I am not too sure what it was that we saw, but both Jeannie and I got a good look at it through binoculars. We could see no signs of any night time navigation lights whatsoever. It was just a white glow traveling across the sky, no lights, no noise. We observed loads of air traffic over towards Edinburgh airport, but these aircraft all displayed visible navigation lights. The photographer (Colin) also sighted an orange orb type anomaly to the southeast of our position, which he mentioned to us briefly. The next day, I received a sighting report from Lewis Burt, who reported seeing a similar or same, orange orb-type anomaly at the same time from a different location.

EDINBURGH - On March 13, 1999, in Pentland Hills a witness whose name has been withheld stated, "Returning to my car after walking my dog at 9:40 PM GMT, I saw glowing saucer shaped object rise up from behind a small hill." No sound at all. It hovered for a few seconds then shot off in to the sky. I do not believe in aliens in our solar-system. P.E.E.R. REPORTS STUDY ON ABDUCTION AND PATHOLOGY

The latest edition of PEER Perspectives, the journal of Dr. John Mack's Program for Extraordinary Experience Research, reports results of a recent study in which 40 professed abduction experiencers were compared with 40 non-experiencer control subjects across a wide range of psychological characteristics. The study strongly suggests that psychopathology is not a factor in most abduction reports. The experiencers and control subjects were matched for age, gender, education and racial background. All subjects filled out standard psychological questionnaires including the Schedule for Nonadaptive and Adaptive Personality (SNAP), the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R), the Creative Imagination Scale and the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scale. Among the findings:

Experiencers show no greater signs of personality disorder than do non-experiencers. Specifically, experiencers as a group are not more insecure, do not more often exaggerate or seek attention, do not tend to lie more and do not have greater difficulty relating to other people in daily life than do non-experiencers.

Experiencers and non-experiencers are also similar in their average degree of hypnotizability and suggestibility.

Experiencers do score higher in the area of "eccentric perception," meaning that they more often report unusual body sensations, out-of-body experiences and hearing of voices than do non-experiences. However, these reported sensations may be a direct function of abduction rather than a sign of pathology. The PEER study notes that when such perceptions are found in connection with negative traits such as low self-esteem and tendencies to self-harm, they can be interpreted as possibly pathological. But in the experiencer group, the tendency to eccentric perception was found alongside positive traits such as high work commitment, positive mood and low rather than high dependency.

"The findings suggest that persons who were psychologically healthy were reporting events that were not typically understood to be real by most healthy individuals in our culture," the report states. "Since personality disorders, imagination and suggestibility do not account for alien abduction narratives, a new set of questions needs to be asked." RUSSIAN MILITARY ACCUSES US OF TESTING NEW SECRET BOMB

YUGOSLAVIA -- Russian military officials accused the United States of testing a new secret weapon in Yugoslavia -- a weapon that is somewhere between conventional and nuclear! "The United States is using Yugoslavia as a test range for its latest secret means of destruction," representatives of the Russian Defense ministry told reporters. The Pentagon refused immediate comment. Russia claims that a bomb tested in Yugoslavia radically differs from conventional weapons. "It was created in Los Alamos and is aimed to destroy radio electronic equipment," the TASS newswire reported in Tuesday flashes. The military said that the bomb generates an electric impulse similar to electromagnetic fluctuations caused by a nuclear explosion. They added that the bombs are being carried by two strategic B-2 bombers of the Stealth technology. Russian military officials provided no other details. Thanks to TASS and Skywatch International.

MARS

The controversy surrounding ALH 84001 (the Martian meteorite that NASA scientists believe contains fossilized traces of bacteria that originated on the Red Planet) continues, and there's been an interesting new development. DR Andrew Steele, a British scientist working with the NASA team studying the meteorite, has discovered living bacteria within the meteorite. Before you get too excited, I should say that these are decidedly terrestrial micro-organisms. But the fact is that they've been feeding on the meteorite's organic carbon molecules, formed in an era when Mars almost certainly had running water on its surface. The fact that the bacteria can thrive off Martian rock is compelling evidence that life is not some unique miracle that can only exist here on Earth, but something that can exist in all sorts of different environments. HYPERSONIC AIRCRAFT RESEARCH

The April 5, 1999, issue of "Aviation Week and Space Technology" contains an article by Craig Covault titled "Global Presence' Objective Drives Hypersonic Research." It mentions the following items: "Within 15 years managers hope [new] technology will allow development of a military single-stage-to-orbit vehicle with a hypersonic lift-to-drag ratio of 3. This would enable the vehicle to launch into any orbital inclination, then return to base after one revolution of the Earth. "One of the concepts to be explored are hypersonic plasma characteristics first discovered in the US in 1958 and more recently revived in Russia in the 'Ajax' concept. "The plasma around hypersonic vehicles is ionized air that is electrically conductive. Theory and some initial tests indicate that if a magnetic field is beamed from the vehicle, the electrical properties of the plasma will be affected such that the bow shock will physically move farther away from the vehicle, dramatically reducing drag. This and other Ajax factors related to heat transfer and the real time conversion of fuels on such a vehicle [?] could have a revolutionary impact on the ability to create air-breathing hypersonic vehicles... NASA REPORTS FLYING DISC NOW A REALITY

(NASA) Troy, New York. "It came out of a trans-atmospheric vehicle design course at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute," explained Proffessor Leik Myrabo. The microwave Lightcraft being studied by Myrabo and his students is shaped that way because that's how the physics works. It's an advanced derivative of a tiny, 25-gram craft that he is pushing around on a 10 kilowatt beam of infrared laser light in tests at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Myrabo discussed his work last week during the Advanced Propulsion Research Workshop held in Huntsville. "This is where we are now," Myrabo said, showing a picture of Dr. Robert Goddard with his first liquid propellant rocket, launched March 16, 1926. Just 43 years later, a sophisticated descendant of that rocket sent the first humans to the Moon. "My goal has been to cut the cost of getting to space by a factor of 1,000 using a system that is completely green," he explained of his passion for the past three decades. Since 1972, he has been building on an idea developed by Arthur Kantrowitz to use lasers to launch satellites. Myrabo introduced a variation using the atmosphere as the propellant heated by a laser. At higher altitude and at 5.5 times the speed of sound, as the air thins, the craft would use a small supply of on board hydrogen, still heated by the remote laser beam. Myrabo's initial design for NASA was a 5-meter (16.5 ft) diameter, four-person craft in a shape that he dubbed Acorn. The front is shaped to reflect the coherent laser light into a narrow region between the body and a shroud. The focused light superheats the air to become a jet exhaust that pushes the craft up. In this case, the laser power station would be based in orbit. The NASA-supported 'Lightcraft' project is involved in testing a saucer-shaped vessel which is lifted to great heights by a high-powered laser. The laser superheats the air beneath the craft, causing it to expand and provide the propulsive force needed. Even more interesting is that the craft would be able to behave very differently than conventional aircraft. "Switching on the microwave transmitter would make the Lightcraft disappear in an eye blink as the Lightcraft accelerates to 15,000 mph."
