HUMANOID = AN ADJECTIVE MEANING, HAVING HUMAN FORM OR CHARACTERISTICS.
CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE THIRD KIND OR CE3:
SEEING OR COMING IN CONTACT WITH AN ENTITY OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN, BEING RELATED TO UFOS OR NOT.
TYPES OF CE3 CLASSIFICATIONS:
TYPE A: WHEN AN ENTITY OR HUMANOID IS SEEN INSIDE OR ON TOP OF AN OBJECT OR UNIDENTIFIED AIRCRAFT.
TYPE B: WHEN AN ENTITY OR HUMANOID IS SEEN ENTERING OR EXITING A UFO.
TYPE C: WHEN AN ENTITY OR HUMANOID IS SEEN IN THE IMMEDIATE VECINITY OF A UFO.
TYPE D: WHEN AN ENTITY OR HUMANOID IS SEEN IN THE SAME AREA WHERE UFOS OR UNKNOWN OBJECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED.
TYPE E: WHEN AN ENTITY OR HUMANOID IS SEEN ALONE WITHOUT RELATED UFO ACTIVITY, EXAMPLE: BEDROOM VISITATION.
TYPE F: WHEN THERE IS A "PSYCHIC" CONTACT BETWEEN ENTITIES OR HUMANOIDS, BUT AN ENTITY OR HUMANOID IS NOT NECESSARILY SEEN.
TYPE G: WHEN THERE IS DIRECT CONTACT OR INTERACTION BETWEEN A WITNESS AND WITNESSES WITH THE HUMANOID OR ENTITY, EITHER AGAINST AS A RESULT OF A FORCED ABDUCTION OR A VOLUNTARY CONTACT.
TYPE H: WHEN THERE IS A REPORT OF AN ALLEDGED CRASH OR FORCE LANDING OF A UFO WITH RECOVERY OF ITS OCCUPANTS. OR WHEN AN ANAMOLOUS ENTITY IS CAPTURED OR KILLED BY EITHER A WITNESS OR MILITARY PERSONNEL.
Recently I have added a 9th category, that of TYPE X, which details an extremely bizarre or high strangeness episode, which does not necessarily involved an entity or humanoid (but many times it does). I am currently going through my case history summaries in an attempt to locate incidents that fit into the TYPE X category.
Current event log:
(The current event log includes only cases from 2010)
On the night of January 9 2010 residents of the city of Perm, in Russia's Ural region, reported seeing a strange object in the sky. The object, eyewitnesses said, was hovering in the air above the city, scanned the area with a beam of light and even let off several "passengers". Unfortunately the witnesses did not specify what kind of "passengers" they were exactly and how they disembarked from what seemed to have been a UFO. A woman saw a strange object outside her window between 2-4 o'clock a.m. She woke up her daughter and asked her to take a look at the strange sight. The two women could see a disk-shaped object sending three glittering beams of light to the ground. (1)
On the night of May 28 2010 in Wiecbork (Kujawsko-Pomorskie region) Poland was on his way home on his motorbike when he suddenly spotted a light on the side of the road. He immediately stopped his motorbike but could not locate the source of the light. After a while he continued home but as he drove away he spotted "strange being" in the field "that appeared to be covered in a watery film". He did not stop and continued on. (There is no additional description available on the being, however I spoke to one of the sources (Piotr Cielebias) who indicated that the being appeared to be 'fluid' or of a 'jelly' like substance). (2)
I would normally include in the summaries a 'regular' or 'run of the mill' Bigfoot or hairy humanoid encounter, unless it includes some sort of high-strangeness event or there are UFOs or other humanoids involved. However I felt I should include the following event due to its bizarre content.
A night in or around June 9 2010, Tim Peeler, who lives on top of a mountain near Casar North Carolina, began to hear unusual grunting and screeching outside his home. When he investigated the sounds, he said, he got close enough to the unwelcome intruder to poke it with a stick.
"The thing was 10 feet tall with beautiful hair, yellowish hair, and a yellow beard," the mountain man recalled. According to Peeler the creature left, but it later returned. He yelled at his unwanted visitor again, he said, and it finally took off. Peter also noticed that the beast had six fingers. Peeler reported that the "beast" approached his dogs and somehow got wrapped up in their chains. "I rough talked him and said, 'You get away from here.'" News reports indicate that Peeler dialed 911 at 3 a.m. and filed a "suspicious person report." "It looked like a giant ape with a man's face, and it made a whistling sound," he told the 911 dispatcher. He was about nine or 10 feet tall with real long arms."
Peeler threatened to kill the creature if it showed up again and plans to have a camera handy also, just in case. (3)
On June 10 2010 around 00:30 a.m. a security guard reported a strange event at the George Fox University Campus, in Newberg Oregon. At the time he was working the graveyard shift, which is from 2300 until 0700. He is required to do three patrols around the campus every night. He got into the office at about 2250 to relieve the previous shift. He briefly went to get some dinner (at a McDonalds) and felt a little anxious for no apparent reason. He chalked it up to the caffeine in the drink he ordered. He got back into the office at about 2315 and set his patrol alarms. Because he is required to do three patrols, he set an alarm program on his computer to go off and remind him to patrol. He started up an audio book and started playing an online game.
About midnight, he got a nosebleed and ran into the bathroom to stop it. It is rare for him to get nosebleeds, but they have come and gone since he was about six or seven. This one was accompanied by a bit of a headache, which is a little rarer, but still an occurrence from that age. He stopped the nosebleed in time for his alarm to go off at about midnight for a patrol. He turned the alarm off because it is rather annoying to listen to as he 'geared up' for his patrol, forwarded the office phone to the cell phone he carries and left for his patrol. His patrol route is approximately two miles circling the campus. He can get one patrol done in about thirty minutes. As he travel, he must use his I. D. card to open locked doors through the card locks system. Whenever a lock is opened, it registers on a computer in the security office. Typically he checks the computer to see if any students have opened doors into buildings so he can check in on them during his rounds. The computer displays the time, lock, and name of the person opening it.
From the moment he walked out of the door to the security office, he felt strange. It was as if someone were staring at him. This was added to the general anxiety that he could not explain. It was like this for the first half of his patrol. He slid the card lock as he passed by the Coffin Hall Basement Door, and continued through the driveway and parking lot toward the Villa Academic Center. As he was walking along the sidewalk, he noticed movement out of the corner of his vision and heard the light sound of something snapping a twig in a wooded alcove of the building. The area was dimly lit by a parking lot light that was a fair ways away and everything was shadowed, but he thought that he could see someone a quarter of the way behind one of the trees. He stopped and identified himself by yelling, "George Fox Security, who's there?" When he yelled that, the figure moved to conceal most of its body behind the tree, but he could still make out part of it from the light. He saw the movement clearly, but that only concealed the person more. He reached for his flashlight on his duty belt to illuminate the figure as he took a step forward. That is where it began to get strange because he clearly remember turning his flashlight on and shining it on his eyes, completely killing his night vision. He remembers reaching for his light and accidentally turning it on as he took a step forward. However he did not remove his eyes from the figure in the bushes. The light came on and took his night vision, but there was no bright spot as there should have been from the bulb of the light. He wavered for a moment and his foot hit the ground 'behind him' as if had stepped backward, even though he had just began a step forward. He pulled his flashlight out of its ring holder on his left hip, turned it on and shone it into the alcove. There was nobody there. Immediately he felt disoriented, vertigo, and a little nauseous. He waited for about a minute to let the nausea pass before moving. He entered the alcove and looked around with his light, but there was nobody there. He checked the ground, but saw no obvious shoe prints.
He looked around for a few minutes more and then decided that it must have been the light playing tricks on him. He continued his patrol around the building. When he got to the Villa Academic Complex Main Door card lock, he reached for his I. D. card and found that it was inside his jacket that was zipped up almost all of the way. Whenever he patrolled he keeps it outside the jacket and the jacket zipped only midway up. He unzipped his jacket and immediately inhaled a strange odor. It was a mix of ozone and a sticky sweet smell (like rotten fruits) that was inside his jacket. It was then that he noticed, even though it was raining and he had been walking in it for about fifteen to twenty minutes, his shirt was dry and his pants and jacket were only slightly damp. His skin also felt completely dry, like after washing it really well. His fingers were also very dry, as if he had just washed his hands with borax. He pulled his card out and slid it then reached for the door. When he touched the door handle, to pull it open, he received a static shock. Once that happened, the vertigo completely vanished. He continued the rest of his patrol, but it was odd. He no longer felt that he was being watched. Instead, he was just jumpy, he kept his flashlight in his hand and on, which is something, he simply did not do, his heart was racing. When he finally got back to the security office and heard his computer's alarm clock buzzing. He silenced it, thinking that he had probably forgotten to before. He went back to listening to his book on tape and playing his game.
His alarm went off again not long after. He had forgotten the time, which happens when he plays video games, and he clicked it and got ready for his second patrol. He forwarded the telephone again, glanced at the card lock screen, and froze. He looked up at the clock on the wall and was very confused. The clock said it was 0530; the alarm was for his unlock patrol (when the University doors are unlocked for the day). According to the card lock screen, he had swiped the Coffin Hall Basement door at 12:16 and the Villa Academic Center door at 3:38. Either it took him a little over two hours to walk 100 yards or he had lost a fair chunk of time. He went along his normal unlock patrol and stopped by the alcove where the incident took place. He took a picture of the whole alcove and a strange imprint where the figure was standing. The imprint was roughly shoe-shaped, but it had none of the tread marks. It appeared to be just an indentation. When he got off duty he was still rather anxious and could not sleep as he normally did. (Perhaps an unexplored abduction event?) (4)
On June 22 2010 around 2000, the witness was walking his dog at his summer cottage near Lake Erie in Western New York State. The sun was just beginning to go down behind the trees, casting a beautiful fractured light on the front of the house. In the distance could be heard the sound of his neighbor's ATV driving around the undeveloped wetlands adjacent to his property.
Suddenly his dog began acting erratically, pulling on the leash to go back inside and turning his head toward the sky, looking this way and that. He spoke to him asking what was wrong and looked around to see what was disturbing him, other than the noise in the woods. That is when he saw a peculiar winged creature flying down from out of the woods across the front of the house.
The creature's wings were about three inches across. The wings were transparent and rounded at the ends. If you formed a "C" with your thumb and forefinger and then touched your thumb nails together, you would have a rough estimation of the shape of the rear wings of the creature. The wings were not fluttering like a butterfly or vibrating like a dragonfly, which are two common insects in the yard. He only saw the creature for the length of time it took to fly to the end of the house. Once it got beyond the house into the open area of the front yard, it disappeared. His eyes were on it the whole time. He was not able to see any of its body, just the back wings from below as described. By the shape of the wings he assumed it was a four winged creature. His thoughts after the being disappeared were, "That must be what people see when they say they have seen a fairy." He felt elated after seeing this creature. (5)
The following had a definite Cryptozoological slant, but "all creatures great and small" will be included in this journal.
In late June 2010 a strange looking marine creature was reportedly spotted in lagoon waters of three villages in Cakaudrove, Fiji Islands. Keeping fishermen and divers away from the sea. Naiqaqi village headman Jepeca Nakuvu said villagers from the neighboring village of Laucala and Valeni were scared of going out to sea because of the creature. Ateca Disukavanua, 50, said she was fishing near a copse of mangrove called Dogodogo on Monday when she saw a black creature swimming towards her.
"At first I thought it was a log but then it moved closer and I was so scared because the water was up to her waist I jumped on top of mangrove stump," she said. "I hung on to that mangrove tree for about an hour and the creature, which was about three foot long, and had flippers like that of a turtle and had a strange long mouth. "I had never seen such a thing before in my life. I was shaking because it kept hanging around as if it smelt the place where I was standing.
"I only got down when the tide went out and the water was only ankle high."
Mr. Nakuvu said men from the three villages armed themselves with cane knives, digging forks and spears and looked for the creature hoping to kill it (ah wonderful human nature).
"When we know it is dead we will go out to sea because we are scared because this is something that we are not familiar with," he said.
The village headman said they had lodged a complaint at the Savusavu Police Station. (6)
I am aware that the Fijian Islanders are a sea culture and know everything about the ocean around them and the creatures within that ocean. This creature must really been something out of the ordinary in order to have rattled their nerves.
Who are those black-eyed beings or creatures that are reportedly walking among us, perhaps in a worldwide basis? Reports of black-eyed entities appear to have increased as of late, becoming more and more 'common' and reported from various places and from different countries. Are they some type of new hybrid race, slowly taking over, like those kids in the famous movie "The Midwich Cuckoos" their eyes would turned completely black when attempting to control somebody's thoughts and they were indeed some sort of hybrid race, perhaps a bit paranoid but all options and theories must be explored. The following incident was recently reported:
One day in early July, 19-year old Dallas Adams was pumping gas into his car at a convenience store in Lucas, Texas. A man and his son stood at the pump opposite Adams, a woman at her car was behind him. When the gas nozzle clicked, Adams placed it back onto the pump and went inside the store. Things were different when he came out. "There was no line in the gas station," Adams said "I bought cigarettes and walked out but when I came out my car was the only one there. I had only been in the gas station for maybe two and a half minutes. As soon as I noticed everyone was gone I felt scared but couldn't figure out why."
Then he saw the man standing by his car. As Adams walked by him, he noticed a smell, like the man hadn't showered in weeks. "He looked like an average guy but when I looked at him I felt scared like my life was about to end," Adams said. "I went to my car and looked at him---he was staring at me." The man came closer to Adams as he stood at the driver's side door, walking in long steps.
"I need a ride," the man said, the force in his voice striking Adams like something physical.
"It scared me to death," Adams said, "I said, 'what?' And he said, 'give me a ride."
Then Adams saw what frightened him.
"His eyes were completely black. No whites, no nothing, just black," Adams said. "When I was talking to this thing I could smell its breath, which was horrible."
Adams worked up the courage to ask where the black-eyed man wanted to go. The man simply replied, "Just give me a ride."
"I said, "I'm sorry, I can't, and then he took a few steps toward me," Adams said, "His walk was kinda odd, but stopped as this conversation was happening."
But what terrified Adams were the man's eyes.
"I couldn't take my eyes off of his," Adams said. "It was like they were sucking me in."
As Adams stood, watching the strange man with the black eyes approach him, something broke whatever held Adam's gaze. Adams hopped into his car and sped away. (7)
What are they really? Demonic creatures? practical jokers, a hybrid race, interdimensional travelers? We can only guess.
The Pre-Arnold Corner
On this issue's pre-Arnold corner I will summarized several encounters with strange entities or individuals under different circumstances, from different locations worldwide, all of them taking place before the June 24 1947 date.
The first case purportedly took place in Vacherie, Louisiana, in the year 1891, the time is apparently unknown. Local resident Frederick Kliebert who was "well known and respected in the community" reported encountering a giant in the nearby swamp forest. He was greatly surprised when he saw approaching and passing within 15 steps of him a huge man of around nine feet in height, covered by a long black beard. He wore a kind of cloak of fur of a brownish color which seemed to be attached only by a rope around the neck. The rest of his body was naked and was covered with red hair. Mr. Kliebert asked him who he was and where he was from three times but the giant gave him no response and then continued his fast walk with a 'sad and serious look' towards the west. Tracks 23 inches long were found. A type of 'rogue' Bigfoot? A Wildman? A hermit? (8)
The next case was reported to have taken place in 1897, the month is unknown, and it occurred one afternoon near Shaugh Bridge, Dartmoor, England. A young girl encountered a two-foot tall pixie-like entity sitting under an overhanging boulder. It resembled a little old wizened man; it wore a pointed hat, curved at the front and red and blue clothing. It had a brown wrinkled face; it suddenly vanished in plain sight of the witness. (9)
Our next bizarre encounter comes from us from near Estella, Navarra, Spain, the year 1910, at night. Hunter and cow-herder Ricardo Jimenez was returning home on his horse late at night when he was confronted by a short child-like figure standing on the side of the road. The strange creature appeared to be making loud moaning sounds. Concerned, he dismounted from his horse and attempted to grab the figure but was horrified upon noticing that the figure had horrible distorted features and long extremities. The strange creature appeared to have been wearing some sort of white tunic-like garment. Jimenez ran back to his horse and left the area but not before the strange creature attempted to grab the horse's reins with long skinny hands. Others in the area had reported encountering the same or similar creature. (10). Reminds me of a story told to me a long time ago by my grandmother (rest her soul) but that's for another journal. This type of encounter seems to be a worldwide phenomenon and has become almost intertwined with the urban legend motif.
The next case is also Spain, near the same region as the Estella encounter, it has also an urban legend quality, and perhaps it was as a result of the difficult times that the nation of Spain was undergoing at the time.
The date was December 1935 at night, at a small hamlet called La Huetre, in Caceres, Spain. One night at the house of Martina Gracia a "majestic" looking white horse suddenly appeared and on it where a man and a woman both wearing toga-like outfits, that covered them all the way down to their feet. The strangers were seen by several local men that heard loud trotting sounds and saw the approaching horse and riders, the puzzled men yelled out, "Who goes there" several times until a very loud cavernous voice from an unknown source yelled back, "We are people, harbingers of death!! (Loosely translated). The men described the riders as having both very pale complexions; completely white eyes (not black) lacking pupils and dark straight hair. Their hands were large and bony in appearance. At this point the riders turned their horse around, trotted onto a nearby bridge and vanished in plain sight of the astounded group of men. (11). Of course at the time Spain was involved in what was to be one of Europe's most cruel and bloody civil wars.
Our next 'solitary' encounter reports comes to us from near Drumchapel, Scotland, summer of 1946, during the daytime a man walking through a wooded area suddenly felt a sense of isolation with all normal forest sounds gone. He felt as if time had stopped or slowed down. A female figure then appeared. She was three-foot tall, and had an ivory white complexion with large slanted eyes. The woman spoke to the witness, asking him if he recognized her. Before she vanished, she told the witness that he would someday see her again. (12). This report clearly illustrates a phenomena connected with high strangeness reports known as the 'Oz Factor" or effect, which includes a feeling of isolation and total silence while the encounter is taking place. The source is considered an expert in this type of reports and coined the phrase 'Oz Factor". I consider very intriguing the questioned poised by the entity, "Was he supposed to recognize her?"
High Strangeness corner:
What is the difference between a high strangeness report and another 'less strange' report, or are not all cases 'strange' in nature, there are indeed some cases that fit into a higher than 'normal' category. I would like to summarize several of those events, from different decades, but all 'very strange' in nature.
The following case is indeed a high strangeness event, but does not directly involved the appearance of a humanoid that was reportedly seen or encountered; it is a very gory and frightening episode nonetheless.
The year was 1949 at a location called Kobyakovo Gorodiszhe, located between Rostov-on-Don and Aksay, in the North Caucasus, Russia.
At this location there are caves which are called the "Kobyakovskiye caves" which have a long ominous history according to the local residents. At different times local villagers have been reported missing without a trace in the area of the caves, also domestic animals have vanished there. According to local lore a "terrible monster" lives in the caves. Ignoring the rumors and legends, the Soviet military decided to build a vast underground command center in the area of ancient ruins and caves close to the town of Aksay. A group of military men well supplied with food, and equipment were tasked to study the mines, for some reason they did not carry any weapons with them. The first expedition was successful but the soldiers on the second expedition did not return from their underground sortie. Later after a search other military personnel found the mutilated bodies of two soldiers who had been on the expedition. According to the witness's testimony, one soldier was missing his head (as if some powerful animal had torn his head off) and he had been completely stripped of flesh from his bones. The second soldier's lower part of his body was terribly mangled. Remnants of the other members of the expedition were never found. After the tragedy the military cancelled their plans to build the underground bunker at this location and instead they chose to build it in 1957 at the Muhina Gully located not to far away. (13).
Unfortunately I have no additional information on this case, I did not translate it. It appears to involve the ominous human mutilation factor and strange disappearances. It was a long time ago, at the beginning of the Cold War.
The following case is a very difficult case to categorize, involving a tiny midget-like entity and possibly evidence found later, perhaps in an attempt to mislead or confuse investigators:
It was in the summer of 1958 in the small town of Aligilan, Santa Rosa province, Argentina. At around 0400 a.m., perhaps as a result of the summer heat, the witness suddenly woke up and sat up in bed. As she looked outside the window in front of her she noticed a small humanoid figure walking at a very quick pace up a nearby stonewall in a straight and vertical path, placing its body in an impossible horizontal position. As the strange entity reached the top of the wall it suddenly vanished in plain sight.
She described the being as human in appearance, well proportioned, but only about 20cm in height, with a large head and large eyes. Its skin was light orange in color and it had "beautiful" facial features. It wore some type of thin smock that covered it entirely except for its face and tight fitting pants, both light green in color. She could not see its hands or feet. The entity stared at her the whole time it walked up the wall, showing what appeared to be concern or fear, it kept its head turned at an impossible angle as it vanished from sight. Scared she kept the encounter to herself and three days later as she walked in the fields behind her house she found a small (15 cm) doll-like figure that she had never seen before. Incredibly the "doll" had an uncanny resemblance to the tiny entity seen several nights before. She kept the doll for years afterwards and noticed that it never seemed to age or damage in any way. Towards the end of 1976, she let her brother borrow the strange doll, which he kept in his car. He eventually sold the car, forgetting all about the doll. Its whereabouts remain unknown to this date. The witness thought that the strange doll had been placed there by the real entity possibly in an attempt to confuse her as to what she had really seen that night. (14). Why is it that on many occasions when there is possible tangible evidence of an encounter or contact it eventually disappears or is lost 'accidentally'.
The following case involves certain strange physical changes on the witnesses which were of a very bizarre nature:
In February 13 1969, in Nuble, Valparaiso, Chile around 0400 a.m. an intense light coming in the window awakened Mr. X and his wife, and their 2 daughters. They got to see a UFO hovering over the beach, 200 ft away. It had the shape of an octahedron, with a cupola on top and with 3 legs, also 2 kinds of antennas and several portholes. It was 15-20 ft in diameter and almost equally high; it looked metallic and was of an intense sky-blue luminosity. This object, descending with oscillation, landed on the beach 200 ft from the witness house. A luminous ray came from it, and "3 beings of humanoid aspect descended by this luminous ray." They were about 6 ½ feet tall, dressed in dark blue suits that covered the whole body, including hands and feet; on their chests was a metallic emblem. Each placed 10 tubes in the sand; then they collected all the black stones to be found on the beach; then they picked up their tubes and re-entered the craft, which rose diagonally with oscillations sand then went off very fast. The duration of the observation was 30-40 minutes. Mr. X's watch stopped "between 0400a and 0438a". As an apparent consequence of the observation, "the skin of the witnesses became covered with a sort of scales, which disappeared after 3 days". In the sand were found holes 6" in diameter and 10" deep, left by the entities "tubes"; also a circular zone 6 ft in diameter, "where the sand seemed to have been absorbed." (15). There were physical effects both on the witnesses and the environs around where the object had landed.
Choosing a case from the 70's decade was very difficult, there are literally hundreds of high strangeness events to choose from, but I threw a dart and there will be plenty of other journals to summarize other 70's events.
January of 1979 was a very busy month, specially the early part of it, as far as reports close encounters and entity encounters. I will summarize the entire month on a later issue. The following I found extremely interesting and of a high strangeness category.
The location was Nuoro, Island of Sardinia, Italy, on January 2 1979. Around 2315, the witness, L. M. was on his way to open a window due to the intense humidity inside the house when he noticed outside, near the building, two short human-like figures that appeared to be "floating" ten meters above the ground. Mesmerized he watched the two figures from the balcony. The two humanoids wore a transparent coverall, like Plexi-glass and under that a gray metallic outfit, that emitted a bluish glow. On their heads they wore white-colored helmets, with clear visors. He could see that their faces were normal, with very handsome features, with large eyes. They also wore white tight-fitting boots and had dark cylinder shaped "containers" around their waists. During the encounter the witness felt chills. As the beings approached the house they smiled at the witness and were soon lost from sight in the distance. (16). Interesting report describing human-like little men with the apparent ability to fly using unknown means of propulsion. I suspect the dark containers around their waists facilitated the means of their mode of transportation.
The 80's decade, the coming of the grays, missing time, abduction, the face of Ufology was changing, however high strangeness events were not gone. However, again I chose a case in which the after effects of the encounter were unpleasant and severe in nature involving a bizarre flying entity.
The location was near Lukyanovka, Pidan region, isolated and frigid Primorskiy Kray, Russia. The year 1986 (exact date unknown), one night a local hunter was found gravely wounded in the taiga and brought into town. He had severe wounds to his face and lost both of his eyes and he eventually lost movement to the fingers on his left hand. He reported that he had been looking for deer on Pidan Mountain and finding a cave on a cliff he decided to stay overnight inside. After collecting some brushwood he kindled a bonfire. Soon he noticed some motion in the depth of the cave. The hunter immediately rushed for his gun, and seconds later he heard a shrill cry, and a creature pounced upon him scratching him with very sharp claws. The creature was obviously winged possessing two meter wide wings, the head on the creature was almost "human" and it lacked any facial hair. After struggling for his life the hunter fell to the ground exhausted and badly injured, apparently the winged creature then departed from the cave. He lay by the bonfire the rest of the night and in the morning he gathered whatever strength he had and walked into the taiga where he eventually lost consciousness. He was later found by other local hunters. (17). We are left to wonder what would have happened to the unfortunate man if he would not have been able to leave the cave. He would have been another statistic on the annals of mysterious disappearances worldwide.
The 90's decade brought forth a sleuth of bizarre creatures that seemed to emerge from a cosmic menagerie, these included the infamous Chupacabra, Werewolves, Reptilians, Lobizon, monkey men in India, skinwalkers, etc. It was also difficult to choose a case representing that decade, but I think I chose a pertinent case.
In Vernonia Oregon, on April 24 1997, in the morning a farmer found one of his animal's dead, and another missing. The dead cow had been mutilated by Satanists, he thought, as the eyes were cut out, there were fang marks on the neck, and it was drained of blood. There were no footprints visible in the damp ground. That same night around 2300, he went looking for his missing cow. The vehicle had two powerful search lights that illuminated a creature only 25-30 ft away...it turned and hissed at him, and he noticed that it had reptilian looking eyes, like a snake, only they didn't reflect the light, like humans. Badly shaken, he said the small gargoyle like green creature was only about four feet high, and had wings on its back, which it didn't unfurl. After about 15 seconds or so, it ran rapidly into the trees. (18). Appears to have been a sort of Chupacabra type hybrid or creature meandering about in Oregon.
The trend as far as bizarre creatures continued into the 00's decade, with numerous reports from Mexico, Chile, Argentina and other parts of the world. I found the following report from Nigeria fascinating.
Around May of 2003 in Maru, Nigeria, women in this larger town near the Zamfara River in northern Nigeria have been found to remain inside in the evening for fear of a strange creature which chases them. The News Agency of Nigeria has learned that a mysterious creature, said to be half-man and half horse, usually appears in the early hours of the morning or the evening. The creature fits the description of the centaur of Greek mythology, the most famous ones being Centaurus, Chiron and Sagittarius. However the Nigerian version is distinctly African. It was described as having close-cropped hair, a goatee, horse-like ears, with a man's torso sprouting from a horse's body where the horse's neck usually is. The creature had two human arms and four equine legs, and from the human neck down, it had a black and white striped coloration of an African Zebra. The appearance of this creature has crippled the socio-economic activities in the town, especially at night as people prefer to stay home from 1600 until sunrise the next morning. The creature is believed to have appeared in different locations in Maru and is causing much anxiety and fear among residents, particularly women. (19)
