Hello, A very strange-looking cloud was seen by many people from the Waterfront Park area of Kelowna while looking toward the Knox Mountain area this evening around 9:00 p.m. (Sunday, July 13, 2008). Several people took photos of it and many people commented on how they had never seen anything like it...they said it was as if a UFO was inside of it. Even though the wind was blowing quite strongly, the cloud did not change its shape or move at all for several minutes--which was very odd. Then, quite quickly (within 30 seconds or so), its form began to dissipate. Within a couple of minutes, it was a much smaller cloud, blending in with others.

My friend is not one to sensationalize things--in fact, she is the one who is always checking Snopes.com to see if stories are really true.

I am wondering if anyone else has sent photos to you, or if any other odd happenings in the Okanagan Valley skies have been reported today.

I e-mailed the photos to a friend in Vernon who replied, "very interesting - and I saw that cloud or one much like it today in Vernon and thought it was very unusual too! Weird!! That seems near impossible."

I took several other photos using my cell phone. I have included only a couple here.
