Encounters with Aliens on this Day
1909 - In Colebrook, Tasmania, Australia a torpedo-shaped object was seen low in the sky shortly after 8:00 p.m., over some hills to the southeast. It carried searchlights and gyrated in a strange manner, then vanished. (Source: Keith Roberts, Australasian Ufologist, January 2001, p. 43).
1947 - At 8:30 a.m. two loggers in Cortes, British Columbia, Canada heard a roaring sound, and when they looked up saw 20 flying saucers flying east to west, twisting and turning above and below each other as they passed over. At around 11:00 a.m. a flat disc-shaped object cleared the summit west of Basalt, Nevada then dropped to a lower level. Its speed was very rapid with a fluttering motion. As it neared Mount Montgomery it gained altitude again and was gone. At 12:30 p.m. two domed discs passed at high speed over the Boise, Idaho valley, spinning, bouncing and weaving. They straightened out, made a sharp turn to the right, then shot of to the north-northeast. 1952 - At ten minutes before eight o'clock in the morning three men observed two metallic-blue disc-shaped objects with portholes pass over an oil field in Bakersfield, California making a droning sound. It came back after several minutes, and a lapse of time was experienced by four witnesses for two hours. The main witness, Mr. L. E. Coberley, regained consciousness in a car with the three others still passed out; the car engine was still running after the missing time. (Source: CUFOS case files, letter from L. E. Coberley dated December 16, 1977).
1952 - In Dallas, Texas Jack Rossen, an ex-artillery observer, saw three blue-white lights hover and then descend at 11:54 p.m. Ninety seconds later one of the lights descended further. (Source: Project Blue Book files counted in official statistics, case # 1944; Don Berliner, Project Bluebook UFO Unknowns; Kevin D. Randle, Invasion Washington: UFOs over the Capitol, p. 278).
1954 - Starting at 4:50 a.m. several townspeople of Dietikon watched two brilliant red discs that hovered and spun over Zurich, Switzerland for 15 minutes. One flew toward the east over Zurich, then both shot off toward the south-southeast. (Source: Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 3523).
1954 - In Denver, Colorado at 9:30 p.m. 12 dim nocturnal lights flew in formation towards the west at 5,000 mph. They stayed in formation, so it is possible there was a huge structure behind the lights. (Source: Loren E. Gross, UFOs: A History. 1954: June-August, p. 82).
1955 - In the small town of Kelly, near Hopkinsville, Kentucky the Sutton family saw a light land near their farmhouse at around seven p.m. Shortly after several goblin-like entities about one meter tall, with glowing silver clothing, oversized round heads, big eyes and huge pointed ears harassed them for several hours. They got out their hunting rifles and started shooting at them. At one point one of the entities was struck by gunfire and was knocked off their roof, but instead of falling normally it "floated down." Close to running out of ammunition, the Suttons fled their farmhouse and got the local police, who observed a lighted object in the sky, flying away very fast. Allen Hynek, The UFO Experience, p. 150; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 251; UNICAT, case #170).
1956 - A reddish orange elongated object jerked up and down over Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley in California on this evening for several minutes around 9:30 p.m. A later report at 11:30 p.m. was made in El Monte, California. (Sources: Los Angeles Times, August 1956, p. 22; Alexander Mebane, Civilian Saucer Intelligence--New York Newsletter, November 1956, p. 7).
1957 - Between Solway Firth and Newcastle in Cumbria, England many witnesses driving along the coast watched a cigar-shaped object for 30 minutes as it jerked north and south in the sky for 30 minutes. (Source: Loren E. Gross, The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse: UFOs: A History. 1957: August-September, p. 42).
1965 - At 3:30 p.m. in Bury's Bridge, Ireland a man was repairing the broken chain on his motorbike when a spinning, gray top-shaped object suddenly appeared just five meters away from him. It was 1.8 meters high, with the same diameter, and hovered 1.5 meters above the road. It shot off toward the northeast. (Sources: Flying Saucer Review, November-December 1965; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 686).
1965 - A greenish disc-shaped object maneuvered around the contrail of a Titan launch vehicle during a missle launch from Cape Kennedy, Florida, according to an aerospace technician who was present at the time. (Sources: Orlando Sentinel, September 21, 1965; Jerome Clark, Flying Saucer Review, March-April 1966, p. 11; Richard H. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II. A Thirty Year Report, p. 151, citing NICAP UFO Investigator, August-September 1965, p. 6).
1965 - On this day at a school outside of Mexico City, Mexico two groups of students had separate but identical meetings with aliens. The students were in two groups of three, and encountered a landed metallic disc-shaped object 150 feet wide. The occupants were blond, blue-eyed human-looking beings who were seven feet tall and wore metallic coveralls. They were taken on a three hour long space journey and telepathic messages. (Source: David F. Webb and Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, cases A0653 and A0654, citing Terrance McGarry for UPI).
1972 - Mr. Faltersack, an 18-year-old restaurant manager, was driving along County Road JF in Waukesha County, Wisconsin at 2:30 a.m. when he saw an orange, circular object approximately 20 to 30 feet in diameter hovering at a low altitude and making a beeping sound. It moved over his car for a few seconds and his car engine and headlights died. The orange object moved off and hovered over some treetops, while his car radiator boiled over. 1972 - A 39-year-old woman in Portland, Oregon reported what
appeared to be a solid object surrounded by pulsating lights at 9:45 p.m. She first spotted
the "elongated" object and observed it for approximately 20 minutes before it
disappeared behind some tall Douglas fir trees. (Source: NICAP UFO Investigator, October 1972, p. 3).
1973 - At 2:30 a.m. a woman was alone in her bedroom in Derry, Pennsylvania and had her bedroom window open with the drapes closed. She awoke with the feeling that someone was watching her. She turned her head and was horrified to see a hideous face staring at her from the window. The creature was over nine feet tall and had dark oval eyes with no whites nor eyelashes. Apparently it had pushed the drapes aside to look inside. The creature moved back awkwardly as the witness moved. Her daughter also saw a huge shadow on the wall from a figure outside. A strong odor like rotten meat persisted after the creature had gone. (Source: Stan Gordon, MUFON UFO Symposium Proceedings 1974, p. 136).
1978 - A UFO was reported to have crashed this night in Port Dauphin, Madagascar. (Source: Allan Hendry, International UFO Reporter, December 1978, p. 2).
1978 - At 5:30 p.m. a 33-year-old woman with two children in Indianapolis, Indiana sighted a car-sized, silver colored disc-shaped object that looked like a Frisbee. It stopped in flight, shot off to the southwest, then shot straight up. The sighting lasted eight minutes. (Source: Allan Hendry, International UFO Reporter, December 1978, p. 14; UNICAT, case # 138).
1978 - Evelyn Clayton's family and friends were out on the front porch of her home near Minerva, Ohio at 10:30 p.m. when they heard noises coming from the direction of an old chicken coop just to the right of the house. They then saw two pairs of yellow lights that seemed to be reflecting a porch light. Scott Patterson went to his car and turned the headlights on in hopes of getting a better look. They could now see that the lights were eyes on what appeared to be two cougar-like animals. Then the group saw what looked like a large hairy bipedal creature step in front of the large cats as if to protect them. This humanoid then lurched towards the Patterson's car. The witnesses fled inside the house and called the sheriff's office. The hairy bipedal creature appeared at the kitchen window while they were waiting for the deputy sheriffs to arrive. Patterson pointed a 22-caliber pistol at it, while Evelyn Clayton loaded a .22 caliber rifle. The creature stood outside the window for close to ten minutes. They decided they would not shoot it unless the creature made advances toward them. It left quickly without harming anyone. A strong stench resembling "ammonia sulfur" remained in the area long after the creature was gone. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1978, case # 3061, citing Ron Schaffner).
1978 - Shortly after ten p.m. the Biundo family of four watched two UFOs maneuvering in the sky over Hanover, Pennsylvania for 45 minutes. (Source: NICAP UFO Investigator, September 1978, p. 4).
1979 - At 7:30 p.m. a 28 foot in diameter white globe was sighted over a road in Sedalia, Missouri, pulsing once every second. It projected blue spikes of light. After about two minutes, it shot straight up into the sky and disappeared. (Source: MUFON UFO Journal, January 1980).
1984 - A delta-winged object surrounded by a green haze was sighted by a witness in Garrett, Pennsylvania at 9 p.m. It was the size of a football field, had two bright lights in front, and 6-7 amber lights on the bottom. There was a rush of air sound made by the object. That same night there was another report from a woman in Kiski Valley, Pennsylvania. At 11:30 p.m. Ms. Powell sighted four blinking white lights that moved in a straight line across the sky, making no sound. (Source: (1) APRO Bulletin, December 1984, p. 3; Doris Graziano, APRO Bulletin, May 1985, p. 7).
1995 - In the early morning hours a double-pyramid shaped object followed a car south of Brazilia, Brazil for over two hours, emitting blue beams of light. Telepathic communication from the craft was reported. Videos were taken. (Source: Lumieres dans la Nuit, issue 340).
1995 - At around 10:00 p.m. a glowing ovoid object circled a car in Werribee, Victoria, Australia. Several photographs were taken. It went away when a second car approached. (Source: UFO Newsclipping Service, November 1995).
1995 - Anomalous radar echoes occurred during this day in the Central European surveillance area, headquartered in Switzerland. (Source: Illobrand von Ludwiger, Best UFO Cases--Europe, p. 109).
1995 - At 9:55 p.m. three carloads of teenagers driving through farm country outside of Olathe, Kansas reported seeing a red nocturnal light over a cornfield. Right after than they noticed a large, gray domed disc hovering nearby. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center; Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 17380, citing NUFORC).
1998 - On this afternoon on the outskirts of Citta Di Castello, Italy some city residents spotted a small humanoid in a field. It was crouched down like an old woman gathering weeds. When it failed to respond to shouts from the witnesses they approached to about 200 meters. Suddenly a silvery cylinder-shaped object appeared and hovered about two meters above the small figure. The small humanoid then levitated into the craft, which took off quickly, accelerating out of sight. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1998, case # 3133, citing Joseph Trainor, UFO Roundup, September 16, 1998).
2001 - At 7:01 p.m. in Vista, California a witness first reported seeing a triangle-shaped craft with three lights on each side, followed by a white dot a minute later, which when it became closer was another triangle-shaped craft with three lights on each side. They both went behind a hill, and because the hill blocked the view the witness didn't see them leave the area. There was no sound from either craft. (Sources: George Filer, MUFON UFO Journal, October 2001, p. 12; George A. Filer & David E. Twichell, Filer's Files: Worldwide Reports of UFO Sightings, p. 58).
2002 - At 5:00 a.m. a delta-winged object flew silently overhead in Madison, Wisconsin. The sighting lasted four minutes. Thirty minutes later, at 5:30 a.m., two triangular-shaped craft were observed hovering over some power lines in Lebanon, Tennessee for five minutes. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, August 2002 archived web page).
2002 - On this afternoon in White Plains, New York two witnesses reported a close encounter with a small disc-shaped object, estimated to be 12" inches in diameter and spinning rapidly. "My 12-year-old daughter and I were heading home from a visit...and turned left out of the Westchester County Airport entrance at 2:30 p.m. onto 120A south, and I saw something on my left quickly approaching my car. My daughter saw it, too. It looked like a small disk, no more than 12 inches or so in diameter, and it was rapidly spinning...and moving towards us. It was dark brown with a metallic quality, and as it passed the car it made a strange sound. Not a buzz or a motor-like sound; more of an electronic sound that changed pitch as it approached my car and then hovered for a second just at the left side of my windshield, very close to the driver's side window. Then it quickly flew away. "It remains very clear in both of our minds," the mother reported.
2002 - At approximately the same time as the White Plains, New York close encounter, a cigar-shaped object was sighted over Boston, Massachusett Logan International Airport. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, August 2002 archived web page).
2004 - Beginning at around 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. hundreds of witnesses in Tinley Park, Illinois and surrounding communities (Orland Park, Frankfort, Matteson, and Oak Forest) reported three red lights, hovering and moving in formation, for about an hour to the south of the city. Photometric analysis of videos taken revealed that the positioning of the lights was consistent with a large triangular shaped craft with a bright light at each apex, banking as it flew.
