Encounters with Aliens on this Day
1947 - A seventy-year-old woman in Webster, Massachusetts reported to the Worcester Daily Telegram that at 10:30 p.m. a UFO "shot by her window." A thin man wearing a "Navy uniform" was seated inside the craft. (Source: Worcester Daily Telegram, July 7, 1947; David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # A0134).
1951 - In Sonderborg, Denmark Joseph Matiszewski, a mechanic, heard a whistling sound and saw an object land in a meadow. Approaching to within 50 meters, he found himself paralyzed and observed that cows also seemed to be paralyzed and birds had stopped singing. From the object emerged four handsome men who had brown or bronze-colored skin, and wore black shiny suits and translucent helmets. Eight objects also emerged from the craft and hovered above it. Other men inside the craft and on its deck appeared to be making repairs. Afterwards, the objects flew to about 100 meters altitude and climbed rapidly out of sight. Only then did the paralysis subside and Mr. Matiszewski able to move again. 1952 - A red-lighted object approached the Goose Bay Air Force base in Labrador, Canada at around 2:40 a.m. and was tracked on radar and viewed visually as it hovered in the southwestern sky. As the object appeared to wobble its radar image enlarged. After a short while it climbed, changed white and then took off at tremendous speed. Haines, Project Delta, p. 181; Donald Keyhoe, Flying Saucers from Outer Space, p. 52).
1952 - On a partially cloudy evening at around nine o'clock, two witnesses viewed several lights from the vicinity of McCord Air Force Base in Pierce County, Washington for about ten minutes. The lights maneuvered and hovered, "stopping and starting" over Maury Island and Puget Sound. They were fifteen times as bright as the intensity of aircraft landing lights, and they ranged in color from silver to yellow-white. TV interference was reported in the area at the time. (Source: Willy Smith, UNICAT, case # 724).
1961 - A large, bright shining UFO was tracked by radar at 50,000 feet over Exeter Airport, England for more than an hour. (Sources: NICAP UFO Investigator, August 1961, p. 7; Brinsley LePoer Trench, Flying Saucer Story, p. 45).
1965 - At eight o'clock in the evening a cigar-shaped UFO appeared to be "on fire" over a road between Gloucester and Cheltenham, England with what appeared to be flames flickering along its entire length. At 8:40 p.m. in Warminster, Wiltshire, England another cigar-shaped object was seen turning sideways at a low altitude. It had portholes glowing along its entire side. (Source: Arthur Shuttlewood, The Warminister Mystery, pp. 25 & 41).
1966 - At 9:45 p.m. a brilliantly lit UFO illuminated the terrain at the Nha Trang Army Base in South Vietnam. Widespread EM effects on vehicles, machinery. Propeller-driven sky raiders were warming up on the field at the time, and the incursion caused a total blackout of the air base for four minutes, including the failure of both gasoline and diesel powered generators, the aircraft on the ground, bulldozers, and on an oil tanker offshore. The object was described as a round intense light, estimated to be 500 feet in the distance. The object shot straight up, and was out of sight in seconds. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II: A Thirty-Year Report, pp. 8, 76, 250, 260).
1966 - At Mount Mitchell near Burnsville, North Carolina four teenage Boy Scouts saw three pulsating red lights hovering for five hours over a trail in the forest beginning at around 12:30 a.m. At sunrise the objects rose, and became a red ball with 6 smaller objects, and formed formations. Ground traces were found in the vicinity, including a triangle landing imprint pattern 1.5 meters on a side, and broken branches. Fawcett, Flying Saucers, March 1972, p. 6; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case # 776)
1968 - At around 3:00 a.m. on the highway between La Rioja and Catamarca, Argentina and about 60 kilometers from Catamarca, a diamond-shaped UFO with a red beam caused the engine of a car to malfunction. There were four passengers in the car, including the driver named Sr. Fedelli. A powder residue was left behind on the car, as well as burn marks. (Source: Oscar A. Uriondo, FSR Case Histories, August 1973, p. 10).
1968 - On this night Romulo Velasco, age 25, a miner, saw a UFO land in El Choro, Oruro, Bolivia. From the landed craft emerged a tall thin being, to whom the witness felt drawn "as if by a magnet." When Velasco got closer the humanoid took hold of his right wrist, and he then felt paralyzed and fell to the ground. The young man was found on the ground by his neighbors, paralyzed on one side by a stroke, caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. At the landing site there was a wide area of burnt grass. Other neighbors, including police officers, saw the UFO maneuvering for some minutes over Poopo at a low altitude, illuminating the village like daylight. Emitting blue rays of light, it rose and disappeared. (Sources: La Nacion, June 19, 1968; David F. Webb and Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case 1968-33 (A0934), citing Gordon Creighton, FSR, September-October 1968, p. 23; Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1968; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case # 910).
1969 - On the highway between Docking and Bircham Newton, England at 12:25 a.m. there were electromagnetic effects on the witness's car's engine and lights, and static electricity charges were felt when a bluish object shaped like inverted mushroom hovered overhead. The UFO was described as a pale blue hemispherical disc with a golden aura, and estimated to be 150 feet in diameter. The UFO took off at high speed after a minute and a half. (Sources: Peter Johnson, FSR Case Histories, June 1971, p. 1; NICAP UFO Investigator, October 1969, p. 3; FSR, July-August 1969, p. 31).
1971 - At 2:55 a.m. a silver colored bell-shaped object hovered over a paddock at the Brighton Army Camp in Tasmania, Australia for five minutes. It gave off an orange exhaust, and a rainbow colored vapor shot toward ground. It then hovered for another three minutes, climbed, and finally shot off very quickly to the northeast. (Source: Australian Flying Saucer Review, December 1972, p. 8, citing The Tasmanian UFO Information Centre).
1973 - At 6:15 p.m. two people driving in Courchapon, Doubs department, France saw a twelve meter long shiny metallic cigar-shaped object hovering 100 meters away from them. It was completely silent. It flew away to the northeast slowly. (Source: Lumieres dans la Nuit, issue # 308; Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 9990).
1978 - The Frank Johnson family of five was driving home near Brockworth, Glocestershire, England
at around 10:15 p.m. when they all saw a huge multicolored disc-shaped
object hovering over a field. The driver panicked and sped off, but he
soon lost control of the vehicle, which began driving by itself. When
the car stopped, the family seemed to snap out of a "dream" state,
but they soon realized that they could not account for 45 minutes
of missing time. Later under hypnosis they recalled being floated up
into the object and into a circular room, where three men in
metallic suits met them. The men were described as having blue
eyes and pale faces, and they also wore helmets. Two members of
the family were given medical tests and were told by one of the
UFOnauts, a man who had a disc-like insignia on his uniform, that they
had come from a dying planet called "Janos." They were all given a
seltzer-like drink before being put back in their car. Another UFO
abduction was reported that same evening, at the same time, involving a
spinning disc-shaped object, with over one hour of missing time, and
with five abductees, in Stanford-in-the-Vale, Oxford, England.
The family name in that case is Mann. (Sources: (1) Albert S. Rosales,

1979 - In Rauma, Finland a couple saw a silvery domed disc emitting a blue beam of light into a nearby forest at 12:30 p.m. The woman went to investigate, and saw that the object, which was only about one meter in diameter, had landed and she was able to get to within a close range of it. It had landing gear and a transparent dome. Inside the dome were two small creatures with large eyes and frog-like skin. She estimated that they were about half a meter tall. When she started to touch the object, she was temporarily blinded by a bright light and the craft sped away. She had eye pain for one day. (Sources: APRO Bulletin, May 1981, p. 5, citing UFO Finland; Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 13719, citing FSR, volume 27, number 3).
1987 - On this evening a woman in New Albany, Indiana had a close encounter with occupants inside a large "layer-cake" looking disc-shaped object. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. The object was described as having two rows of rectangular windows, the first row were lit with a blue light, and the second row was lit with an orange-red color. Three human-sized figures wearing tight-fitting jump suits could be seen moving around behind the windows while the object hovered for four minutes. (Source: Francis Ridge, Regional Encounters, p. 107).
1995 - Starting at around 10:00 p.m. and continuing for several hours, lights of different sizes were seen by two witnesses hovering and maneuvering near the ground in Adair County, Iowa. Some of the balls of lights were estimated to be about 20 feet in diameter. Nearly all of them were green, but one changed colors from green to white, and then to red. Another one stayed white in color. Some were on or near the ground, while others were aloft up to twenty feet in the air. (Sources: Richard F. Haines, CE-5: Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind, p. 163; MUFON UFO Journal, December 1995, p. 15).
1996 - At 8:45 a.m. 29-year-old
Bernadette was on her way to buy cigarettes in Courlay, Deux-Sevres department, France and was just crossing a bridge when she encountered the figure of a
"girl" with long stiff, black hair standing in front of her. The girl had almond-shaped eyes and a small pale
face with an adult-like facial countenance. The female being wore a plastic like
blouse and a white jacket with jeans. The figure suddenly disappeared in plain
sight. (Sources: Lumieres dans la Nuit, issue # 341; Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1991, citing LDLN).
2004 - In Chatham, Ontario two witnesses reported seeing a circular flying object that stopped in the air, reversed direction, rose, then quickly flew away. It flew faster than the speed of a small plane. Duration of the sighting was seven minutes. (Source: Geoff Dittman, 2004 Canadian UFO Survey, case # 379, citing NUFORC).
2005 - At 3:15 in the afternoon in Silverdale, Washington a black rectangular object was sighted flying from south to north in a straight line and at a constant speed making no sound. The sighting lasted less than 30 seconds. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, archived June 2005 webpage, this report posted June 20, 2005).
2006 - At 8:30 p.m. in Fullerton, California a lenticular, domed disc lit with many lights was seen flying in level flight by a young child, and a pilot was visible inside. The 6-year-old boy described the craft as having legs underneath its flat white bottom, and that the rest of the craft was black except where it was lit by multicolored blinking lights of white, red, blue and purple spinning clockwise. The dome of the craft was lit by a greenish glow. The pilot had “dots” for eyes and a big or normal nose. The pilot was seen in profile and never turned his head, keeping his face in the direction of travel.(Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, June 2006 webpage, this report posted July 16, 2006; Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 2006, citing NUFORC).
2008 - At around 11:35 p.m. a Roanoke County, Virginia police officer responded to a call about a strange unidentified object in the sky over the Catawba area, ten miles west-northwest of the Roanoke Regional Airport. The officer reported seeing the object in the air slowly moving parallel to Interstate 81. The object was semi-circular in appearance and had approximately half a dozen red and orange flashing lights around it. It made no sound as it moved. The police department received a second call at 12:15 a.m. looking for answers about the object reported over Catawba. Police said at least two additional witnesses besides the officer saw the object. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, archived June 2008 webpage, this report posted July 5, 2008).
