Encounters with Aliens on this Day
1950 - At 7:30 p.m. over Ocean County north of Lakehurst, New Jersey a U.S. Navy AD-4Q aircraft with a crew of three engaged in a dogfight for 20 minutes with a bright nocturnal light flying at 18,000 feet altitude. The light circled the aircraft several times. (Sources: Donald E. Keyhoe, Flying Saucers from Outer Space, p. 46; J. 1951 - On this evening the Captain and three crew members aboard the S.S. William E. Corey on Lake Superior off the coast of Ontario, Canada spotted an elongated orange colored flying object with six portholes. (Sources: Otto Binder, What We Really Know About Flying Saucers, p. 120; Richard Hall, The UFO Evidence, p. 133).
1954 - A 13-year-old boy was paralyzed from trying to touch a plate-sized white disc that floated over his head, near his rabbit hutch in Shirley, Warwickshire, England sometime after one o'clock in the morning. (Source: Janet Ford, FSR, November 1978, p. 16).
1954 - In Monte Ortobene, Sardinia, Italy a motorcyclist saw a disc-shaped machine land near the road. He tried to turn too sharply and fell off his motocycle 50 meters away from it. A taxi driver stopped to observe the object, which gave off a soft whirring sound and soon took off. Farmers on the other side of the mountain saw it fly away. The disc, about 15 meters in diameter, was made of a silvery, rough metal. It supported a dome and showed several portholes. (Sources: Harold T. Wilkins, Flying Saucers Uncensored, p. 237; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 242, case 330).
1954 - In Baltimore, Maryland two witnesses sighted a luminous vertical cigar-shaped object at 5:08 p.m. that turned to a horizontal position, then flew off through some clouds and was lost from sight. (Source: Loren E. Gross, The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse: UFOs: A History. 1954: November-December, p. 16).
1957 - At 10:40 p.m. an ovoid object hovered over a road in Waiuku, New Zealand. It then dived and circled a lake slowly at a low altitude, before leaving by following the coastline. (Source: Bruce Cathie, Harmonic 33, p. 113).
1957 - Truck driver Malvin Stevens, age 48, was driving to Memphis at 7:25 a.m. when, near House, Mississippi and about 23 kilometers northwest of Meridian, Mississippi he saw an object that appeared to have two propellers at either end and a third one on top. Getting out of his truck, he saw three little men about 1.30 meters tall, wearing gray uniforms. They had "pasty white faces." They seemed friendly and willing to talk, but he was unable to understand their "chattering." "I stood there for what seemed like an eternity." They got back into the machine and it took off straight up. There was no vehicle ignition interference. An eight-year-old girl from Honse, Mississippi independently reported a round object crossing the sky toward the south. 1957 - At 7:45 a.m. CST a silvery disc hovered over a road in Lake Charles, Louisiana, causing the single witness's car motor to fail. (Sources: Alexander Mebane, "1957 Saucer Wave in the U.S." in Aime Michel, Flying Saucers and the Straight Line Mystery, p. 263; Richard Hall, The UFO Evidence, p. 75; Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference, p. 13).
1957 - At 9:20 a.m. MST the Lindsey family was traveling by car on Highway 54 at 60 mph 10 miles north of Orogrande, New Mexico when Mr. Lindsey noticed the speedometer waving wildly between 60 and 110 mph. They then noticed a metallic disc-shaped object flying off in the sky. The incident lasted three minutes. (Sources: APRO Bulletin, November 1957, p. 4; Coral E. Lorenzen, Flying Saucers: The Startling Evidence of the Invasion from Outer Space, p. 99; Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference, p. 13).
1966 - Two police officers in East Akron, Ohio saw a brilliant bowl-shaped disc that flew to the north at 1:30 a.m., and then hovered at 60 meters altitude. It veered rapidly to the northeast while gaining altitude. A total of three objects were seen over two minutes. (Source: APRO Bulletin, November-December 1966, p. 9).
1968 - During the day three shiny round objects moved across the sky at a high rate of speed and were witnessed by 18 people at Kalgoorlie Prison, Western Australia. Each had a brownish ring around their edges, and they seemed to be spinning as they flew. (Sources: APRO Bulletin, November-December 1968, p. 6; Richard F. Haines, Project Delta: A Study of Multiple UFO, p. 46).
1968 - A maneuvering disc was seen in the sky over Westlock, Alberta, Canada at 6:20 p.m. It was viewed for 25 minutes. (Source: APRO Bulletin, November-December 1968, p. 6).
1970 - An object with flashing lights made a throbbing sound as it hovered near a car in De Land, Florida, causing the headlights and motor to fail. (Sources: NICAP UFO Investigator, November 1970, p. 3; Flying Saucers, March 1971, p. 28; Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference, p. 50).
1973 - Ten witnesses in Fourmies, Nord department, France watched as a 6-meter in diameter domed disc landed on tripod landing gear at 7:30 p.m. It had a square door in its base. It made no sound. It departed after 10 minutes, leaving behind ground traces. (Sources: Lumieres dans la Nuit, issue # 134; J. Bernard Delair, UFO Register, volume 5 (1974), case # 974).
1973 - In Chesapeake, Virginia a disc-shaped object surrounded by bright green halo, red light emitted from underside. (Sources: J. Bernard Delair, UFO Register, volume 5 (1974), case # 973; Richard H. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II. A Thirty Year Report, p. 345).
1973 - A woman driving between Sikes and Winnfield, Louisiana during a foggy night encountered a three-foot tall humanoid with a large oval-shaped head and two bright shining red eyes along the roadway. (Sources: Winnfield Parish Enterprise, November 14, 1973; Richard H. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II. A Thirty Year Report, p. 345).
1975 - Remote electronic sensors triggered an alarm indicating that something was violating site security at the SAC base west of Lewiston, Montana. Underground, in the missile launch control area, two officers noted the signal, but there was no television surveillance topside to see what was going on. The normal procedure for detecting what had violated security was to call for a missile security helicopter to check the area. At the same time, Sabotage Alert Teams (SAT), consisting of four to six men, were also alerted to the fact that a violation was taking place and were ordered to proceed to the site. On this occasion, an SAT team drove down the highway and onto a dirt road which led to the K-7 area. About a mile away, the team could see an orange, glowing object over the area. As they closed to within half a mile, they could now see that the object was tremendous in size. They radioed to the Launch Control Facility that, from their location, they were viewing a brightly glowing, orange, 300 foot wide disc that illuminated the missile site. The SAT team was ordered by the launch control people to proceed into the K-7 site. However, they refused to go any closer, clearly fearful of the intimidating appearance of the object. It began to rise, and at about 1,000 feet, NORAD picked up the UFO on radar. Two F-106 jet interceptors were launched from Great Falls, Montana and headed toward the K-7 area. The UFO continued to rise. At about 200,000 feet, it disappeared from NORAD's radar. The F-106's were never able to get a visual sighting of the UFO. All members of the SAT team were directed to the base hospital, where they were given psychological testing. No one could identify the object that had been seen, but members of the SAT team obviously had been put through a traumatic experience. Meanwhile, targeting teams, along with computer specialists, were brought to the missile site to check out the missile, and specifically the computer in the warhead that targets the missile. Reportedly they found that the tape had mysteriously changed target numbers. The re-entry vehicle was then taken from the silo and brought back to the base. Eventually the entire missile was changed. CIA documents obtained by the Fund for UFO Research reveal that there were multiple sightings from 2:50 a.m to 6:55 a.m., and again at between 11:35 - 11:45 p.m. at military sites in Moore, Harlowton, Lewiston, and multiple posts at Malmstrom AFB. (Source: Lawrence Fawcett & Barry Greenwood, Clear Intent: The Government Cover-up of the UFO Experience, p. 27).
1975 - On this night a bright flash of light appeared directly overhead of a truck being driven near Flagstaff, Arizona. The electrical equipment on the truck went haywire, and the dash and headlights went off-and-on three times, while the alternator light pulsated rapidly. (Source: CUFOS News Bulletin, February 1976, p. 12).
1977 - At 11:45 p.m. a commercial pilot in Colares, Para State, Brazil saw a reddish yellow light about 100 meters high, moving slowly, at 200 meters distance, in a north to south curving trajectory to the left; the object went behind some trees and disappeared from sight. There were three other sightings reported earlier that evening of nocturnal lights. (Source: Bob Pratt, Operacao Prato, p. 31).
1978 - A large mushroom-shaped disc was seen over a plowed field in Portsdown Hill, Hampshire, England. It had a very bright light on top like a searchlight, red lights just below that, and luminous green lights that looked like windows. It approached and hovered low over a car, making no noise at all. There were four witnesses, from a family named Mailing. (Sources: Portsmouth (England) News, November 11, 1978; UFO Newsclipping Service, January 1979, p. 11).
1988 - At 9:00 p.m. an ovoid object and a second flying object turned from their flight path in Ostra Amtervik, Sweden and followed a car, then stopped over Lake Fryken. (Source: Andre Liljegren, AFU Newsletter, issue # 34; Larry Hatch, U computer database).
1993 - A 1.2 meter tall humanoid was seen hovering 30 cm above the ground in the middle of the morning near the shore in Siracusa, Sicilia, Italy. It wore a silver suit, and there was an landed octagonal object nearby. (Source: Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 16226).
1998 - Fifteen people, including members of a Puerto Rican UFO investigation group, were on a night vigil on Monte Briton, Puerto Rico when one of the them began to feel ill. Seven members of the group then accompanied their ill friend down to the nearby road. As they reached the road they were stunned to see seven short gray humanoids staring at them. The beings had unusually large heads. Terrified, one of the group managed to blurt out over a cell phone what they were witnessing. The humanoids then apparently used telepathy to tell the group not to approach any closer. At the same time they all became paralyzed. After three minutes the beings walked into the woods and disappeared and the seven were able to move again. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1998, case #3553, citing Federico Alvarez, UFOSICPR).
2003 - A man was walking his dog on a secluded street in Barrie, Ontario, Canada
at 6:30 p.m. when he came upon an open field and he noticed his dog
running toward a strange humanoid figure. At first he did not know
what it was until he got a closer look. The figure did not move and
just stared at the witness; it did not seem to be worried about the
dog. The figure was dark and appeared to be lying down on its elbows or
knees, possibly in an attempt to conceal itself. The witness and his
dog then left the area without pursuing the figure any more closely,
but he did report it to the National UFO Reporting Center soon after
his encounter. Unfortunately, he did not leave a better description of
the creature he encountered. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO
Reporting Center, Seattle, Nov. 2003 webpage).
2005 - At 6:25 p.m. five bright amber lights were sighted over Navarre, Florida in a diamond formation at 45 degrees elevation. The fifth object was above the diamond at a 10 o'clock position. There were two separate reports with multiple witnesses received by the National UFO Reporting Center, including one with Air Force personnel in rural Santa Rosa county. The sightings lasted 10 minutes.(Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, November 2005 webpage).
2005 - In Denham Springs, Louisiana a disc-shaped UFO was first sighted around 9:27 p.m., moving at a very fast constant rate of speed to the northwest. The object appeared to be disc-shaped, but standing on edge. It had lights around its periphery. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, November 2005 webpage).
2006 - At 4:30 p.m. a disc-shaped object was seen hovering for 20 minutes over the United Airlines concourse at Chicago O'Hare Airport, Illinois at 1,900 feet altitude. It then shot straight up leaving a hole in the clouds. There were many, at least 11, independent witnesses. The F.A.A. and T.S.A. were contacted. The primary source is rated as highly credible. United Airlines subsequently denied permission by UFO investigators to interview the ground staff who initially reported the sighting. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center,Seattle, November 2006 webpage).
2007 - At 5:20 p.m. two disks or saucer-shaped objects were seen gliding side by side before doing some acrobatic maneuvers in the sky over San Jose, California. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, November 2007 webpage).
