Encounters with Aliens on this Day

 November 16

- In Oxford, Mississippi a silent vertical cylinder was observed at 9:30 a.m. making two 90 degree turns at 40 mph.  (Source: Bob Gribble, MUFON UFO Journal, November 1989, p. 22).

- A 41-year-old farmer named N. Ferrari in Castelfranco Emilia, Italy saw a 20 meter wide plate-shaped disc hovering at 9:30 a.m. It had a five meter long cylinder rotating on the top and bottom of the object and made a sound like an electric motor. The plates separated and three human-appearing occupants were visible inside. They wore rubber suits with masks. They spoke something like "Verren…firg…unch", and then the craft went straight up. Olsen, The Reference for Outstanding UFO Sighting Reports, case 35).

- At 11:30 p.m. four young men, Salvatore Rapisardi, Antonio Espada, Gaetano Nicolosi and Cavallaio Angel, observed a disc-shaped object descend in front of the main entrance to the cemetery of Acquicella in Catania, Sicily, Italy. It hovered 50 meters above the ground. The object resembled a circular metallic platform, about seven meters in diameter, which emitted a strange sound. There was a sudden flash and a hatch was opened, and then a small human looking occupant stuck its head out. Moments later the object ascended at very high speed. (Sources: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1954, case # 1566, citing Maurizio Verga, ITACAT; Larry Hatch, U computer database, case 4175).

- A blinding object, red and yellow, twice landed first near the Jockey Club, then near the Rural Exhibition in Bage City, Brazil at 10:30 p.m. (Sources: Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 441).

- On this evening in Saltwood, England four teenagers, among them painter John Flaxton and another named Hutchinson, saw a moving star turn into a reddish-yellow glow that came toward them while they were walking on a country road. It next disappeared behind some trees. Shortly thereafter they saw a bright, golden light some 15-20 feet wide that was seen 80 meters away, floating three meters above the ground, and a dark man-sized figure with wings like a bat and no head came toward them. They fled in terror. There was flattened bracken, and two-foot long footprints. (Sources: Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 588; David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case A0576, citing Waveney Girvan, Flying Saucer Review, March-April 1964, p. 11).

- On this evening a motorist had a close encounter with a cylindrical object looking like a stovepipe in Cyrus, Minnesota. Mr. T. Untiedt was driving on Highway 28 about 5 kilometers west of Cyrus in Pope County when he saw a red flourescent, cylindrical object with a nose cone on top, situated on the road ahead. It was four meters long and two meters in diameter, and was surrounded by a white glow. His car lost power and slowed down when he was 400 meters away from the object, which took off toward the northeast leaving a misty vapor trail. (Sources: Jerome Clark, Flying Saucer Review, November-December 1966, pp. 9-11; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 717; Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference, p. 26).

- At 9:00 p.m. in Point Pleasant, West Virginia Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wamsley and Mrs Marcella Bennett were driving to the house of Ralph Thomas, when they saw a big red light maneuvering over the "TNT" dump area. When they arrived and got out, a "big gray thing bigger than a man, with glowing red eyes" rose up from the ground. They ran into the house, but the creature shuffled onto the porch and peered into windows. It was gone by the time police arrived. Mr. & Mrs. Steve Mallette and Mr. & Mrs Roger Scarberry reported that their car was followed about midnight by a gray "bird like creature" 6-7 feet tall with a 10 foot wingspan. When the car headlights struck its eyes, which were two inches in diameter, they glowed red. It finally scurried into a field and disappeared.(Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, cases 1966-54 and 55, citing John A. Keel).

- At 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Quick and another woman in Storrington, England saw a flickering light and a deep-red, glowing object at ground level. A dark figure, seven to ten feet tall, was seen approaching it. The tall being appeared to glide rather than walk. It vanished suddenly, and the UFO also disappeared suddenly. (Sources: Omar Fowler, FSR, March-April 1968, p. 5; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 898; ).

- Farm manager Alan Pool, age 43, saw an object, six meters in diameter and 1.5 meters high, with round and square windows, land in a field in Yerecoin, Western Australia with a whining noise at 6:30 p.m. It took off and vanished, leaving no trace. (Sources: FSR, January-February 1968. p. 32; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case 899).

- In Beckemeyer, Illinois a triangular object with orange and white lights was seen on this evening by several following a high school basketball game, low in the sky. A second object emerged from it, and then moved about in an erratic manner. (Sources: Breese (IL) Journal, November 19, 1970; Jay Rath, The I-Files: True Reports of Unexplained Phenomena in Illinois, p. 49).

- Two sentries at the Istrana NATO Air Base in Italy spotted two humanoids during the evening. One of the sentries was climbing down from his lookout post on the perimeter of the base, 30 kilometers northwest of Venice, Italy, when he saw, close by in a field outside the base, two beings dressed entirely in white. They were no more than 4 1/2 feet tall. Near a hedge stood a small craft, also white. The beings boarded the object and it departed in total silence. It rose slowly, then shot off towards the east. The sentry coming on duty also observed the departure and marks were later found on the ground at the landing site. The matter was investigated by the military and classified "top secret." (Sources: Lumieres dans la Nuit, November 1974; Charles Bowen, FSR, March 1975, p. 35; David F. Webb, 1973: Year of The Humanoids, case 73-46A; David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # 1973-73 [A1283]).

- An unidentified submarine object like a glowing underwater parachute was seen in the Pascagoula River from Pascagoula, Mississippi at eight o'clock in the evening. (Source: UNICAT, case # 619, citing Larry Fawcett & Barry Greenwood, Clear Intent, p. 70).

- A 15-year-old teen and three others (a boy and two girls) saw a red spherical object come down and land twice in Evansville, Indiana at 9:45 p.m. They tried to catch it as it traveled about 10 feet above the ground. It had a round thing on it like an electric eye and a glowing red, basket-like bottom section. The UFO report was phoned into the UFO Filter Center by the older boy's mother. (Source: Francis L. Ridge, Regional Encounters, p. 52).

- In Lemon Grove, California two 11-year-old boys saw a dark domed disc in an empty lot. The boys were outside, intending to play in the vacant lot in their residential neighborhood. When they got to the field at 7:15 p.m. there was already a dark object hovering about 18 inches above the ground. It seemed to be inactive in every way. One of the boys cautiously approached it and rapped on it with his flashlight 3-4 times. It made a sound like it was made of metal. Instantly, the object's dome lit up in a brilliant red light which illuminated the entire area. It rose three or four feet off the ground, and a row of green lights came on around its perimeter, flashing in sequence. The thing then began rotating, making a "woooo..woooo..woooo.." sound.  At this point it was clear to see that the object was a domed disc, with the disk part chubby but angular when seen from the side, as if two bowls with flat bottoms and 45-degree sides were placed rim to rim. The dome was large and tall and glowing bright red at first, then it started flashing an intermittent red. One of the boys said he saw "rivets" or bolts around the central rim. Four "landing pods" were now visible. The UFO continued to rise and the boys began to run home. As they did so, they felt chills and a tingling sensation, and they also felt weak, "like they were going to die...and running in slow motion". The UFO, later estimated to be 20 feet in diameter, took off at moderate speed and disappeared into the clouds. The boys told both their mothers immediately upon getting to their homes of their close encounter. Field investigation revealed two holes in the ground, 6 x 6 inches square and 6 inches deep. A third depression was found that formed an equilateral triangle. Grass in the field was swirled counter-clockwise.  Five residents recalled unusual television interference at the time when the boys reported the object. A magnetometer at the La Posta station registered a "perturbation" at 7:20 as well. It was discovered that local telephone service was impaired, ultimately requiring two "fused" phone lines to be replaced. (Sources:Donald Carr, MUFON field investigation case file, report dated November 17, 1973; Mike Swords, "TV Interference, Fused Phone Lines, Cited in UFO Landing Case"; David Branch and Robert Klinn, Santa Ana [CA] Register, December 8, 1973; "Boys Encounter Landed Object", APRO Bulletin, January-February 1974, p. 7; "Boys Say UFO Hit with Flashlight", Skylook, February 1974, p. 4).

- A priest driving home on a mountain road between Bocos and Curiel, Valladolid province, Spain had a close encounter with red ellipse-shaped object at three a.m. The craft was the apparent size of the full moon, and hovered near his car. Hiscar engine died, but his headlights continued to work. (Sources: Gordon Creighton, FSR, April 1977, p. 27; Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference, p. 66).

- A car struck a 1.5 meter in diameter sphere sitting on the road in Junosuomo, Norrbotten, Sweden at 7:30 p.m. The car did not sustain any damage, but the driver felt sick and his vision dimmed. (Source: UFO Information Sweden, January 1977, p. 17).

- At 6:45 p.m. a cylindrical object with rounded ends was observed in a field in Bainville sur Madon, Muerthe-et-Moselle, France. It had a small dome on it. It rose slowly and silently, then shot off to the east. (Sources: Lumieres dans la Nuit, April 1980; Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 12936).

- A disc-shaped object  landed in the Izmajlovo Park in Moscow, Russia at around eight p.m. A humanoid figure with 4-digits on its hands exited the craft for 10 minutes. The ground trace left behind was a large circle of melted snow. (Source: Larry Hatch, U computer database, case # 13347, citing The National Enquirer UFO Report, p. 20).

- In Delsburg, Jura canton, Switzerland at 1:20 a.m. a bluish oval-shaped disc hung over a street just seconds after a city-wide power failure. The power outage lasted for two hours. (Source: FSR, August 1981, p. 27).

- A huge triangular object made up of pulsating green lights was seen over Middletown, Ohio at 9:00 p.m. It made no sound. (Source: Curt Sutherly, UFO Mysteries: A Reporter Seeks the Truth, p. 208, citing UFO UFO Notebook).

- At 9:00 p.m. a black cylindrical object with two forward-facing white searchlights was observed over Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for eight minutes. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, Nov. 2002 webpage).
