The Society was founded in October 1997 as the "Western UFO Society" following a report of a mysterious crash in the Curlew Mountains near Boyle, Co. Roscommon, which brought UFO researchers/investigators into the area.
As the result of a magazine article in February 1999 which was followed by extensive radio coverage up and down the country the Society evoled into the ..... "UFO Society of Ireland"
Members receive a Monthly Newsletter giving up to date news and views of UFO interest and most importantly predictions of possible sightings. Where ever possible sky-watches are organised to coincide with these predictions. It also contains "Dates for your Diary" giving information on events, talks and lectures around the country on UFO-related topics.
The latest sightings are also reported in the Newsletter, covering the whole country - members are sometimes surprised at just how many sightings there are in Ireland!
All reports of sightings and/or experiences are treated with the utmost confidentiality and no names are ever divulged.
