OZ File Sighting Report 1st November 2002
Report taken from the AUFORN Mailing List
A friend of mine Joe, just returned from a weeks holiday in Tasmania. He
stayed at Port Arthur in a cabin overlooking the ocean. On Friday November
1st. about 11.15pm he and 2 companions were sitting outside relaxing and
looking at the stars. There were trees both sides of their view so they
only had one section of the sky in their viewing field. Joe said it was a
clear night and they could see twice as many stars as you can in Sydney.
Suddenly one of the stars started to move. They were looking south west
over the ocean to the southern horizon, it moved west to east and disappeared. As they were discussing it 10 minutes later a second star moved in a zig zagging motion and stopped. 15 minutes later another star moved in the opposite direction east to west.
They couldnt take their eyes of the sky and sure enough a fourth star took off travelling east to west. They were all amazed, they had all seen falling stars, but these were different. Their speed fluctuated, there were no flashing lights so aircraft was ruled out. Each star moved for approximatly 45 to 90 seconds and it was in a 40 minute time frame.
