Description: My partner and I were on holidays, staying in the mariners motel, Batemans Bay, When around 9 to 10pm standing on the balcony of our room, looking at the river we suddenly noticed, some four balls of light shoot up into the sky from what seemed to both of us,as coming from near the mouth of the river or just out to sea.
Something we could not totally determine as houses were in the way.
They shoot up into the sky like and about as fast as a sky rocket. But then seemed to slow and slowly came towards us up river in a sort of uniform procedure. The four lights came up slowly, in which we where fascinated by. Untill they reached a point virtually opposite where we where standing. But they seemed to be some 10 meters high (at a guess) midway over the river. We both just kept watching totally fascinated by them. When suddenly all four acted very differently to each other. These lights we estimated where around maybe 6 foot in diameter, difficult to determine in the night sky and difficult to determine how far from us they acutally were.
But as we kept watching one suddenly just vanished right in front of us, then one took off over the back of our motel building approxamatly south at some super speed like a shooting star i guess, another took off north west but no where near as fast. and the fourth one kept travelling on the same route it had been coming from, straight up the river till we could not see it any more.
My partner James and I both could not believe what we saw, and still find it hard to do so, Just that we would like some explaination to what we saw.
Color/Shape: colour was a yellowish light round shape as in a ball totally uniform all four.
Height & Speed: estimated height would have been about 10 meters, approach speed would have been about 1 to 2 miles an hour, as also the fourth one still maintained, the second would have been some 100 to 150 ks/phr the the third would have been around 40 to 50 ks/phr.
TV/Radio/Press Coverage: not that we know of as we where returning to sydney to leave and fly back to the UK.
