UFO Sighting Report - Australia

Please note that the reports in this section have been submitted to UFOINFO/UFO ROUNDUP and accepted in good faith. No investigation has been carried out by UFOINFO.

With the increasing use of digital cameras we are seeing more photos showing alleged 'UFOs' - many of these could be insects, cloud shapes etc. As many readers have asked to see the photos I will be using some of them and leaving it up to the individual to make up their own mind - John @ UFOINFO.

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: We were travelling north along Melrose Drive and stopped at the traffic lights at the corner of Hindmarsh Drive and Melrose Drive, Phillip in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Australia.

Date: Saturday September 2nd 2006 at approximately 6:15 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time

Approach Direction: The object was North, north east of us. It appeared to be fairly stationary or moving very slowly. I would estimate it was over the suburbs of either Hughes or Deakin ACT

Departure Direction: Our view of it became block by buildings as we turned right at the corner and drove away.

Witness Direction: We were facing north

Description: I was travelling with two friends in a car when I saw a large (softly warmish coloured, pink, orange yellow) glowing object in the sky. I pointed it out to my friends who also saw it. I would estimate that it was a few hundred feet up in the air (150 - 250 feet up), below the cloud cover.

We turned right at the corner and our view of it was blocked be buildings. When we arrived a few moments later in the car park (at the rear of the Woden Plaza, opposite the Southern Cross Club), we were not able to see the object.

Color/Shape: The shape was roundish ball shaped. I would estimate it was 4 - 7 kilometers away from us in a direct line. From where we were, it appear a bit larger than the size of a basket ball, so when considering the distance we were from it, I guess it might have been about the size of a small(2 bed room) house, but I'm not really sure about that.

We did not hear any noises associated with it, the car windows were up.

Height & Speed: It was moving very slowly if at all. I observed it for two to three minutes. Part of this time our car was moving (at about 80 Kilometers per hour )so it was difficult to be sure it the object was moving or not. However when we were stopped at the traffic lights (approximately 1.5 minutes) the object appeared stationary or to be moving very slowly.

TV/Radio/Press: I have not heard any other reports of it, but I have not read the paper or listened to radio or TV news reports
