Name: Grace & mum
Witnesses: 2
Sighting Duration: 15 minutes
Observation: I walked out on to my back veranda for a smoke, sat down in a chair with my back towards the sun. I looked up and saw what looked like a very bright star. I called to mum to come out and look. Mum grab the binoculars mum said it looked like round pea through the Binoculars. When I looked it kinda changed shape to a half circle with something hanging down but still attached. The object appeared solid as couldn't see through it.
The object just glided slowly out of sight in a north easterly direction over Mountain range at the back of us. Mum had to go to work but I watched it for over 15 minutes.
Description: Half circle mushroom like, bright and glowing an orange/white when looked at through at it through the binoculars. With the naked eye just white, no sound.
Apparent Size: size of pea
Altitude: as high as the planes maybe 30,000 feet hard to say
Objects Origin: don't know straight up
Objects Destination: North Easterly
Weather: Clear, Pleasant, Sunny, Calm.
End note: I have checked with BOM if any weather Balloons had been released, Yes they had but was told by the BOM it was most unlikely the balloon would have travel that far from Sydney.
A BOM weather balloon is bright orange in colour.
