AUFORN Sighting Form Report
19.10.08 SEAFORTH (NSW) 1940hrs
Source: AUFORN ONLINE UFO Report Form
Witness: Mr. Guy G
Number of witnesses present: 1
Sighting Duration: 10 seconds
Occupation: Luthier, Audio Engineer, Musician.
Observation: Sunday evening I was on my second storey balcony which faces east towards Manly and I was watching the Stars come out and the Planes flying to and from the airport. I had my binoculars in hand and I noticed that there was a large storm out to sea, it was North/east from where I was and it was heading north. It had missed my area so the sky was cloudless up to about a few kms from the storm. Suddenly a whitish-orange light appeared from south east and was moving directly towards the storm(north). Usually I can make out the outline of a plane , see the flashing lights and hear the noise of the engines. But I couldn't make out anything so I used my binoculars and saw that it was a roundish ball light with no discernable outline or plane like lights. It was moving very quickly, too fast for even a jet. The sphere-like object was very high up in altitude, I thought it might be a satellite, but it wasn't that far up above cloud level. After about 10 seconds it disappeared above/behind the storm cloud. I've never not been able to make out any plane or jet or helicopter with my binoculars. This was certainly a sphere/ball light moving at an incredible speed.
Description: There was no sound, no change in shape.
Location: In Seaforth facing east towards Balgowlah/ Manly.
Actual Size: I estimate the object being at that altitude it was maybe 20ft-30ft in diameter.
Altitude: It seemed to be just above the height of the storm clouds.
Object Origin: It appeared from the south (sth-east to me) and stayed at about the same altitude. Object Destination: It disappeared to the north (nth-east from my position)
Moon Visible: NO, I didn't see the moon. It was behind the storm clouds.
Moon Size Comparison:
Planets Visible: Yes, a few bigger stars were visible and a planet in the west. The sky was still a deep blue as the sun had just set.
Weather Visibility: Clear, Pleasant, Breezy
Weather Comments: But storm clouds filled the northern skies.
