Weather Conditions: Fine and clear skys - you could see a lot of stars

Description: My wife and I were sitting outside on our patio. We saw a very bright light and thought it may be a helicopter slowly moving upwards towards the sky. As it went upwards the light became smaller as it slowly travelled upwards. At this stage I thought it may be a plane as the light turned red. In a matter of seconds the red light shot straight up between two stars in the sky and disappeared. Both of us agreed that a plane or helicopter could not do this. It was too fast.
