Location: Sunnyside Road, Glen Osmond. Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.
Date: August 24 2009
Time: Between 8pm and 10pm.
Number of witnesses: Two
Number of objects: One
Shape of objects: Hemispherical, with the flat base extended. The rounded headpiece appeared to be glowing green, but not always.
Weather Conditions: Clear night sky.
Description: The sighting has been on my mind for a while now, and after exhausting research on a possible explanation for what I saw, I have decided to report it.
In the evening, my best friend and I were enjoying the view of the city and the night sky from where we were parked on the side of Sunnyside Road (pretty much halfway down the road, up on the hill, between the turnoff onto Gilles Road and Gill Tce, which goes to Mt Barker Rd), when a bright green flash across my friend's face alerted me to something outside.
Looking out the half-wound window, I saw a small, hemispherical object seem to hover outside the window, peering into the cabin of the vehicle where we were seated. Oliver later attested that he didn't think it had come that close, and that the object was much larger in the distance.
When I sat up, blinking constantly at the bright green light emanating from the rounded source at the top of the object. The light seemed to fill the sky. Also, it was now apparently in the distance, and as large as it was before, thus making it unlikely that it was close to us at any point. However, it would have been hovering above Gilles Road, and at one point seemed to drop down onto the road and cover itself in trees. It seemed to move on the road momentarily as though it were a vehicle. At one point it disappeared in the cover of trees, and at that point there was no light emanating from the object. When it appeared next however, it gave off a blinding green light that then turned white. However, the striking thing this time was that the light was lined, as though hundreds of spotlights were set up parallel to one another from the same source on the ground and gave off this broken, laser-show explosion of light.
After the light died down, it seemed to vanish under the cover of trees, and after surveying the area from our vantage point for a further hour, we surmised that the object must have escaped, perhaps disappeared while we were distracted with the spotlights.
