Weather Conditions: Light cloud

Description: Was walking around doing my rounds (Im a security guard) I was star gazing - trying to make out if a star was the ISS or not. I was looking towards the South East. A bright spherical light appeared in the sky. At first I thought it was a star until it moved then I thought it was a planes headlight, until it moved very quickly from left to right towards the ground. I thought it had impacted, so I climbed a embankment to look. No sign of any impact in the distance. No sign of any impact. Im guessing it could of been a satellite or a meteorite, but why wasnt there a tail to it?
