Location: marystown, newfoundland

Date: between 8-830pm, saturday, september 24th 2005

Approach Direction: south-west

Departure Direction: west

Witness Direction: west

Description: I was driving from KFC to home and I decided to take the back highway. when I past the last of the houses on that road, I looked up the road and saw a strange white light. It was in the sky on top of the hill (where the speed limit changes to 90)so I speed up to see what it was, but when i got there, it was disappearing over the next horizon. so instead of making a left at the next turn-off to go across the cozway bridge, I continued down the road to the next turnoff. I spotted the object so I pulled over as soon as I took that turnoff. It was located by the towers with the red lights. I watched the object for about 5 minutes while it hovered in that spot. It changed from a white light to a red light and then the light was on the side of it. it continued to do this the whole time.A couple of times I saw a shape to the object and it looked like a saucer. It was about the distance of two light poles high in the sky. I left to go home, but it was still hovering when I left. I went back to where I had left a half hour later and it was gone.

Color/Shape: white light at first. then while I watched it hover, it changed to a red light then back to white, etc.

Height & Speed: height- two light poles high

Sure I have no problems answering your questions. I am excited that I was able to experience this sighting. I've always been fascinated with the subject.

-The weather that night was clear and calm. A beautiful evening.

- yes. from the moment I first spotted the object it moved away from me.

- The object was in the air just above the trees. It was on the grand bank highway, on top of the hill just past Dr. Wetherall's office (he's the dentist). to be specific, it was the hill where the speed limit changes to 90km/hour. so I was probably a quarter kilometer away from it. I continued to drive towards it and it moved away from me. It then continued to move in the sky until it stopped by the radio towers in Winterland. (those towers with the red lights). I pulled the car over and watched it hover in this area next to these towers for about five minutes. I then left to go home, but the object was still there. I returned to this spot I had left about 20 minutes to a half hour later, but the object was gone.

-There is a small airport in the town of Winterland. I am not sure if it is open all the time.

- There was absolutely no sound coming from the object.

- When I watched it hover next to the radio towers, it's height was about midways up the tower

- there were no sparks or anything coming from the object.

- When I initially spotted the object, it was a bright white light, then when I watched it hovering by the radio towers, it seemed to change. The white light would blink off, then I would see a red light, then I seen a white light, and so on. And at one point I think I saw a shape to it, which was a classic saucer shape. ( I don't know If my eyes were playing tricks on me, because I was staring at it so hard, but I am convinced of what I saw) also... when I saw the shape, a white light came on the side of it. so it wasn't like the thing moved, there had to have been more than one white light on it. ( make sense?)

- I don't know of any power failures in the area. And I actually have a friend who works with light and power, so I will find out from her and email you that answer.
