Boundary Area Here In British Columbia Object With A Tail

Date: January 18, 2008
Time: Approx: 6:05 - 6:10 p.m.

On Friday the night of Jan 18th 2008, somewhere-abouts 6:05/6:10 pm, I seen something in the sky. I am wondering if you would be able to give me an idea of what this was.

I only seen it move through a portion of the sky, I would say from my view down here it would have moved about the span of about 4-6 inches. It moved very quickly, from the west to the east. It was somewhere in the area over by the stars that are in a sideways "V" formation (tip facing west/southwest maybe)--Hyades? More northwest of it though, I'm guessing. It was a very intense yellow, perhaps a l'il orange hue. The object had a bit of a tail on it. The best way I can describe it was that with the tail included, it appeared like the shape of a small minnow, or the end of Q-tip--but the rounded part would have been more like the size of a pencil's eraser. What a description, eh? Sorry: (It was only there for a couple seconds. I am unsure of whether there was a sound that made me look that way, just maybe a minute or so prior there'd been the sound of a jet or a plane I'd kind of scanned about for but hadn't seen one anywhere. Something happened to make me look up again, I don't recall what. I didn't see any other happenings after that in the couple minutes I was out there. When I next went out about 7:00-ish, that area of the sky was now covered in those "pulsed-looking" clouds.

On that note, Wednesday, the planes where flying big-time, with huge "X's" in the sky all day; we also got some of that "fakish" look like tiny hail/supposed to be snow kind of styrofoamy ball-like stuff out of nowhere, I think that was on Thursday]

I don't know if it could have been a meteor, I wouldn't think so. It definitely wasn't a shooting star (of the typical sense). Perhaps a comet? I'd think it would have been visible for a greater distance. A craft of some sort? Seems to be many of them around these days. Do thank you for your expertise and knowledge in this area. I do hope Brian that you are feeling better and all is well with you again.

Thank you to the witness for their report.
