September 10th 2009 : Cochrane, Alberta

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: Cochrane Alberta Canada

Date: September 10 2009

Time: About 9:15pm

Number of witnesses: 1

Number of objects: 2

Shape of objects: One looked like Venus, the other like a satellite

Weather Conditions: Clear night sky

Description: I went outside for a breath of fresh air. Stood on the front walk and looked up to the star filled sky. I do this often. Living in a small town just outside of Calgary, we are fortunate to have a clearer, more detailed expanse of the stars than those living in cities.

Venus first caught my eye and then I turned to the constellation of the Great Bear. Turning again I was looking somewhat south of Cochrane and saw a bright light, about the same size and brightness of Venus, very high in the heavens. It was moving slowly across the sky heading to the north east, which would have been almost over my head. I have seen aircraft fly over Cochrane to land at the Calgary Airport but what caught my attention was the extreme height at which it flew and it's size. Ordinarily, if it were a plane it would be much lower as we are not that far from the airport. It was so bright it held my attention, but I was expecting that as it flew over me, as always, I would see the lights on the wings.

My eyes followed it and as it passed over my neighbor's house, I did not see the familiar lights associated with aircraft. Suddenly this rather large bright object disappeared. I was shocked and just as suddenly a few seconds later, a smaller light about the size of a satellite flew at a steady pace from the north west toward the spot where the bright light had just disappeared and it suddenly disappeared in exactly the same spot. As said it was a perfectly clear night. This all happened very fast.

I was rather stunned, so much so I thought perhaps there was cloud cover that I could not see in the dark. I walked to the back garden, the sky seemed very clear. I told my husband but he did not feel it was anything of importance.

I went back outside and looked carefully at the pattern of stars in that quadrant of the sky, taking note so that the next night at the same time, I could check and see if the pattern of stars was the same. I figured if it were not then there was cloud cover. Still I could not get out of my mind the smaller light that disappeared into the exact same area as the bigger light. It was as if it had flown into the bright object to make connection with it.

The next night I checked out my theory and lo and behold, the stars were exactly the same so there had been no cloud cover.

I feel something strange happened and at first was just going to put it all aside. But the event was highly unusual and decided it should be reported somewhere. I am told there have been other strange sightings around this area. Anyway, I just found your site and thought it might be worth sharing.

It seems more than coincidence that a satellite just happened to be flying by at exactly the same time, and disappeared in the exact place that the other object had.
