Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No

Weather Conditions: Clear warm evening

Description: I was in my bedroom of my 8th floor apartment and just happened to look out of the window when I noticed a very thin, straight line that appeared to be glowing green (Imagine the colour of a green glow stick). The line was very distant but what I was able to see could be measured fluctuating between 4 and 2 cm. I called my boyfriend to the window about half way through the sighting. We watched for about 10 more seconds and it shrank and disappeared.

The UFO sighting reported for July 2lst in Halifax Nova Scotia is most likely describing a beam shot out from Dalhousie University which looks like a large green lazer in the sky. It has been there fro years on and off. I first noticed it one summer evening with friends while watching a movie outdoors in our backyard. We all that it was strange at the time and even the local police asked us what it was as they were confused. But, it is from the University and has something to do with measuring atmospheric conditions or density or something.
