UFO SIGHTING REPORT
LONDON ONTARIO
Winter 1977/1978
Original Sighting Form Report:
Name: Jeff
Location: London,Ontario,Canada
Date: 02/01/77 around 8-9pm local, not sure of date, winter of 76/77
Approach Direction: west to east
Departure Direction: east
Witness Direction: north
Description: When I was 11 years old, my friend and I were playing in a
snowbank in the evening around 8pm (I remember it was dark), in the south
end of London, Ontario, Canada. One of us looked up and noticed a bright
light in the sky to the north at about 35 degrees up. It seemed to be over
the north end of the city and slowly moving from the west to the east and
suddenly stopped.
We were both looking at it when it came to a stop. It
then moved back to the west at a slow and steady speed aand stopped again
about 1km west of where it started from. It then began to move back to the
east at the same speed and stopped again at the same eastern stopping
point. Again it moved to the west at the same steady speed and stopped at
the same western point it did before, like it was zig-zagging but it did
not get any brighter, darker, closer, or further from us. It did pause for
about 5-10 seconds before moving back each time it stopped.
At this point we were looking at a solid bright light in the sky, it did not have any
flashing lights associated with aircraft, and was not that far away as not
to be able to see flashing lights if there were any, because that is when
we noticed an approaching aircraft from the west travelling east towards
the motionless light we saw in the sky. We knew it was an airplane because
we could see the flashing lights from it. The plane seemed about the same
distance away from us. When it approached the bright light we saw it came
about 2km from the bright light and then the light we saw started to move
to the right, slow at first, distancing itself from the plane. The light
then gradually but quickly increased speed and altitude and vanished to
the east. The plane just kept travelling to the east as if nothing
happened.
We don't know if this plane was there to see what was in the
sky, or just travelling on it's flight path. I would like to know if
anyone else in London saw this on the winter evening of 1977 besides my
friend and I.
Color/Shape: bright light, white or bright color, brighter than any
star that night.
Height & Speed: approach, 2000-3000 feet height, 100km/h. departure
same height but increased rapidly, speed- from stop to 800km/h in less than
5 seconds.(estimated)
TV/Radio/Press: do not recall any news of event.

Follow-up Report from Brian Vike:
Hi Jeff
I hope my letter finds you well. My name is Brian Vike a UFO
investigator and I own and operate HBCC UFO Research here in Houston,
British Columbia, Canada. Mr. John Hayes at UFOINFO sent me your sighting
report so I can follow it up, and collect any more details for him. UFOINFO
and HBCC UFO Research work together to try to bring as much good information
to each and every sighting that is made with them. So if you would be kind
enough to answer some questions about what was witnessed, I would very much
appreciate it.
If you would be kind enough to answer the questions it may help in
finding an answer for what you witnessed. Plus if there is any other detail
that you may have left out, would you please pass the information a long as
well.
Thank you very much for your help.
Take good care
Brian
[=====]
Brian,
Thanks for taking the time to review my experience. I will answer as much
as I can remember because as you know it was back in 1977/78 during winter.
I will tell you that I can still envision it clearly in my mind as to what
happened and have thought about telling someone but as you know, ufo
sighting=nutcase according to most people. I will also tell you that a few
years ago I saw a ufo sighting show on tv and a lady from somewhere in the
USA had a simular sighting with regards to the behavior of the craft (going
to the left stopping, to the right, stopping, etc). After seeing that I
thought oh great, now when I tell someone of signifigance, they will think I
am using her story. This is not true and this is my story. My answers will
be after each of your questions.
Thanks again,
Jeff

Jeff can you remember what the weather conditions were that night you
had the sighting ?
Yes- dark, clear sky with stars visible.
At anytime were you able to see a tail or trail following the object ?
NO, not at all.
if you used your fingernail, would you be able to give me a rough idea
of how large the object was ? (best guess).
If I held up the pointed end of a pencil, it was about that size
(distance)- perhaps about three kilometers to the north from where we were.
Also, at that distance the approaching planes flashing lights were visible
to the naked eye.
How long were you able to witness the event for ? From start to when you
finally lost sighting of it ?
I would estimate from the time we first noticed it to the time it
accelerated and disappeared would be at least 3 minutes to maximum 5
minutes.
Seeing the object was very low, were you able to hear any sound coming
from it ?
Sorry, no sound, seemed too far away.
Did you ever at anytime witness any beams of light coming from the
object ?
NO, just the same brightness from start to finish.
Were there any lights at all on the object ?
Just the same light (glow?) as earlier explained.
Did the object change color at any time ? If so would you be kind enough
to explain what color or colors it changed to ?
No, but I can vaguely remember that it may have dimmed as it
accellerated off to the right just before it disappeared.
Did the aircraft that you observed ever change direction to follow the
object ? Or appear to ?
No, The aircraft(plane) just kept on it's flight path like nothing was
there.
Also Jeff if you can think of anymore detail would you be kind enough to
pass it along to me.
I can't think of anything at the moment but nowadays, related or not,
likely not, I can seem to predict negative things, like plane crashes,
deaths(can see the person-did this once seeing their chest sewn up after an
autopsy the cut shaped in a 'T'. A few months ago a plane crashed into Lake
Erie, I predicted 2 days earlier a small plane would crash into lake
Ontario. Just thought I'd add this stuff too, as I don't know if anyone that
can predict stuff has ever had an encounter/sighting and if they may be
related.
I hope this helps and feel free to contact me again.
[UFOINFO thanks Brian Vike for the follow-up.]
