February 6th 2005

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Name: Gary Grimes

Location: Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii at the Ilikai Hotel

Date: 02/06/05 17:30 Hawaii appx or 22:30 EST

Approach Direction: When I noticed it, it was motionless

Departure Direction: west then northeast in an arc

Witness Direction: 360 degrees

Description: I was lyng by the pool, eyes straight up and noticed what apeared to be a bright shining star or planet which I found odd because the Sun was brightly shining. After a few moments, the light started moving very slowly westward, at this time, I became very disconcerted. I went to the pool attendant and told him to look at the object which he did and confirmed my witness. At this time, others at the pool became engaged also. I stood side by side with another witness as we watched the bright object make a slow deliberate arc from west to to northeast. A cloud passed by and afterwards we could no longer see it. I was amazed and I am a rational sceptic but no one opined a plausible explanation for this phenomenon. What it wasn't not a balloon, satillite, planet, star, plane, heliocopter, bird, meteor nor hallucination! What it was...a UFO. Interesting aside, some people were not entralled as I was. Maybe they have been desensitized or had fear or denial? A day later, I had dreams of UFOs. My 1st experience and I feel blessed in a strange way to witness the inexplicable!

Color/Shape: A bright shining object slowing moving

Height & Speed: 30,000 to 50,000 feet, under 100 mph

TV/Radio/Press: an accquaintance said so, but I didn't confirm it. She said she saw it to from her lanai (porch).

Follow-up Report from Brian Vike:

Yes, ground wind direction from east to west (tradewinds). Oahu is a small island and we have Hickam Air Force Base here, no there were no aircraft near the object, we observed the object for at least 10 minutes. As I said, it was motionless when I 1st saw it, it did seem to display variable speeds, I doubt very seriously that it was a balloon because of the arched trajectory, not normal with jetstream winds and at a low speeds to boot! The area where seen was at the Diamondhead swimming pool at the Ilikai Hotel set amid highrise hotels near the ocean in north Waikiki off Ala Moana Blvd. :D I will ask my friend if she will report to to you also. I have no reason/motive to make this up. In fact, I can't believe no one else reported it!
