Description: My husband and I was walking along the Foxton Beach estuary foot path towards the wharf around 11:30 ish at night and there was a very bright orange circular looking star in the sky at the mouth of the river a bit further out on the sea though. I told my husband I had never seen that star before and kept saying that is the brightest star I've ever seen. There was a light that shone in a straight line up the river towards us. Although we watched it, we ignored it and wanted to get to the wharf.
We came across two residents of Foxton Beach that had come out of there house and was watching the bright UFO. They asked us if we had seen the UFO out there. Immediately, I told my husband I knew that light was extraordinary. They told us previously they had seen 3 smaller UFO moving in a circular fashion real fast but at that moment all of us could only see the larger bright UFO. We continued walking towards the wharf and left the residents to watch the UFO.
We discussed the NZ SAS training but thought they would actually be doing something and not stay stationary for that long a period. It was stationary all that time while we were walking but it moved closer towards the other side of the river from us in a parallel movement and then moved back to its original position and stayed stationary. We returned back from the wharf along the same pathway and met the same residents again. Only, they had woken a female friend who was watching the UFO wrapped in a blanket. We did a passing blurb about SAS maybe training and hurried along the footpath back to the bEach we were staying at.
The UFO seemed to grow smaller and disappear and then reappeared in the same position as bright and as big as it ever was - if that makes sense. The light that stretched in a straight line along the water was such a powerful light we thought because it stretched from past the river mouth all the way up the river to the estuary.
