UFO Sighting Report - Puerto Rico

March 25th 2000 : San Juan

UFOs Over San Juan, Puerto Rico

March 25, 2000

What's going on in Puerto Rico?

Under a clear blue sky at 5:50 PM, on March 25, 2000, an aerial show was mounted over San Juan, Puerto Rico by two high flying objects.

The objects were seeing by several ground eyewitnesses as they were traveling in opposite directions. One was traveling west at an approximate bearing of 295-degrees magnetic. The other was traveling east at a bearing of 115-degrees magnetic. At least one of the eyewitnesses, Celestino "Junior" Ortiz, a popular radio announcer for Alpha Rock 105.7 FM was able to capture both objects on his camcorder.

As he was leaving his house, he, his wife and son, and friends spotted de mysterious objects toward the west at about a 20-degree angle. He rushed for his camcorder and begun filming.

The objects initially looked liked comets or meteors entering the atmosphere. The object traveling east passed high above over the eyewitness and the members of his family. No sound of jet engines or sonic boom were heard as it flew by. A few days later Mr. Ortiz contacted Luz Guzman and requested her to study his case. A preliminary visual analysis of the video showed a bright object that looked like two spheres, one behind the other and a perpendicular structure coming out to the side between the spheres. Behind the object there was a zone of clear sky of about the same length of the object's fuselage and then there was a small vapor contrail. At times the observers reported that the object had an orange glow. The contrail was about 30 times the length of the object's fuselage.

The two objects traveled in opposite directions until they were out of the line of sight. Many separate frames of video were enhanced and enlarged to search for any indication of airplane wings on both sides of the object in order to dismiss this sighting as a high flying jet airplane, but no evidence of wings were identified.

On the same day of this sighting, one hour later at 6:50 p.m., one of the objects was seen as it headed out to sea at a bearing of 330 degrees magnetic. Reports of this sighting were received at a local Ufology radio program describing the same objects later that night.

This was the second UFO sighting two days in a row over San Juan. Although there may be no relation, the two sightings took place in the week that high military officers from Latin America and USA were meeting at a military base on southern Puerto Rico and a new over the horizon radar (ROTER) that may be associated to HAARP was being activated on the island.

At the same time, we received reports from the south side of Puerto Rico, Cabo Rojo and Lajas, of UFOs sightings, but eyewitnesses discovered that it was an airplane, a Jumbo Jet size airplane, with many color lights and a strong white spot light in the center, flying at low altitude and with almost not sound. "We don't know its intentions or to whom the Jet airplane belongs" our friends reported. "It was seeing flying around 8 p.m..and at midnight. Many people mistakenly report it as a UFO, that is why we started a night vigil and discovered it was an airplane. We only heard a very low sound when it flow over us".

The witnesses do not want their names become public.

NOTE: By coincidence, this sighting also took place in the week that high military officers from Latin America and USA were meeting at a military base on southern Puerto Rico and a new over the horizon radar (ROTER) that may be associated to HAARP was being activated on the island.

The Universe Wants to Play: The Anomalist 12 a Nonfiction Anthology
- Various Authors

We chose Hakim Bey’s wonderful phrase 'The Universe Wants to Play' as the unifying theme for the articles in this volume, the 12th of The Anomalist journal. Since we began publishing in 1994, this highly praised nonfiction anthology has had as its focus maverick science, unexplained mysteries, unorthodox theories, and strange talents. In this issue…
Philosopher Joseph M. Felser argues that it is utterly pointless to attempt to prove the reality of the paranormal scientifically. It seems that proof is part of the problem, not the solution.
Journalist Jay Walljasper visits and interviews maverick scientist Rupert Sheldrake. Why does he rub so many biologists and physicists the wrong way?
The potential victims you never hear about: Author Michael Schmicker wonders if ESP may not have helped save some people from serial killers.
When terrorized, we tend to turn deranged individuals into larger-than-life creations. Hilary Evans and Robert Bartholomew look at London’s long history of Monster Scares, both real and imagined.
We know that spiritualism was rife with fraud but was there a core kernel of phenomena behind the movement? Journalist Gregory Gutierez examines early attempts to scientifically monitor the famous Austrian medium Rudi Schneider.
The indefatigable Nick Redfern spins a cold war tale of psychics, spies, and UFOs. In an effort to gain the upper hand, American and Soviet sleuths went down some strange alleyways.
Cryptobotany anyone? David Hricenak takes cryptozoology to task for too often focusing on the large and 'monstrous.' What gets overlooked in the process, both above and below.
Almost every culture has its tales of little people. Maybe they weren’t so farfetched after all. Biologist Dwight Smith and researcher Gary Mangiacopra document the discovery of, and claims for, a new species of hominid – Homo floresiensis.
Why some scientists may have good reason to be timid. Geophysicist Roger Hart details the legacy of the blacklist in the science of extraterrestrial life.
Policeman Albert Rosales looks at some of the strangest encounters with UFO 'aliens' ever reported. Some may even embarrass the true believers.
Finally, archeologist William Beauchamp presents, in a classic reprint, all the details of a remarkable set of earthworks in upstate New York. Little-known, beautiful, and mysterious.
