Could your sighting be a UFO balloon/lantern?: No

Weather Conditions: overcast winter afternoon.

Description: It was around 1979 and I was about 5 years old. I was playing with my lego blocks by the window when I looked into the courtyard outside which was about three metres away. I saw a short (3,5ft) grey being with 'eliphant skin' (the way I told people I saw it). I thought it had pointy black horns toward the top of its head (I now think it could have been black beady slit eyes). The being peered at me in a slow, calm style. I only saw the chest area and head. I immediately ran upstairs to my folks who were having a Sunday afternoon nap (or whatever). My dad came down and checked the yard...nothing.

Back then there werent any tv shows with alien beings in them (the tv age had barely started in South Africa) and I hadnt seen any movies or had any alien toys. I find it amazing that I saw a being that fits the classic description of a "grey" with so many defining features (grey, short, reptilian skin, black slit eyes). This statement is 100% true as I remember it.
