UFO Sighting Report - Switzerland

August 24th 2007 : Lausanne, Lake Geneva

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: Lausanne, Lake Geneva, Switzerland

Date: 08/24/2007 11:55pm local time

Approach Direction: moving slightly from west to south southeast

Departure Direction: south southeast

Witness Direction: south

Description: From within Lausanne, watched 10-17 (depends on which photo I'm post-checking on) round orange lights move in sky - movement was not synchronized - from west to, what at the moment was east. Appeared to initially be over Lake Geneva in the direction of the moon. Objects faded from view, presumably moving to the south southeast. Total sighting time was at least 20 minutes, but objects left view one by one. This seems very similar to the sighting dated July 22, 2006 reported by another eyewitness.

Color/Shape: orange lights, round

Height & Speed: at minimum 3000 meters above seas level, as they were over Chablais Alps across Lake Geneva

TV/Radio/Press: no, but many on the street also saw this... I will keep up to date if in the news on Monday.

UFOINFO Note: I wrote to the winess asking if there was any possibility that what was seen could have been lanterns as I noticed the Pâquis Street Festival took place on that date and wondered if it might be something to do with that.

The witness replied: "We're nowhere near the actual city of Geneva, so I don't think so... these were certainly high in the air and out away from Lausanne towards and over Evian, France. I often gaze at the lake in the evening, and this was something I have never seen. I've attached a photo from a friend who was across town (the clearest image, by this time several lights had vanished); unfortunately it's not as striking as my view, but the lights were there - this seems like the 22-July-2006 sighting posted on your sight, so it likely has some explanation."

Hi

I am the witness of the July 22, 2006 Geneva sighting http://www.ufoinfo.com/sightings/switzerland/060722.shtml my name is [deleted] and I first posted the event on different websites.

I just discovered Ufoinfo.com and I want to say, great job !

I have an addendum on the sighting in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2007 http://www.ufoinfo.com/sightings/switzerland/070824.shtml

First, Paquis is in Geneva and Lausanne is a city 65 kilometers away. The "chinese balloon " theory should be discarded.

Second, from the photo made in Lausanne, I am 90 percent sure that this was the same phenomenon. The lights were so much more powerful in reality, but they look to me like what I saw - and the fact that 17 were counted is quite striking .. I also counted 17 on the 22nd of July 2006.

Bonjour!

Bien cordialement

Pour le GREPI

Subject: Observation on August 24 in Lausanne region

===Original message===

Good morning!

This is a common mail to all persons who have reported (and we thank them) an unusual phenomenon in light the Lausanne region during the night of 24 to August 25 last.

Your descriptions have reminded us of the above observations of Geneva late April. It was in fact a dropped ball of light at a wedding.

We found the company which organized the event, and they confirm that they actually have renewed the show on 24 August to Lausanne.

It is therefore more likely that this is what you have all observed and very well documented.

We're sorry to disappoint those who were pleased to have been presence of a genuine UFO, and happy to reassure those who feared

You will find attached an article in La Tribune de Geneva describing the observation of April, with the key photo.

Thanks again to all we have contacted, and do not hesitate to do so again if the opportunity arise.

Sincerely

For GREPI
Daniel Benaroya
