UFO SIGHTING REPORT
HOLLINGBURY ROMAN FORT/HOLLINGBURY WOODS

Original Sighting Form Report:
Name: Carole C.
Location: Above the Hollingbury Roman Fort and Hollingbury woods, Brighton, East Sussex, UK
Date: Thursday 05/13/04 at about 4.15 pm local time
Approach Direction: From the north
Departure Direction: Heading south and then west (possibly along the coast)
Witness Direction: West and straight up!
Description: A dark cigar shaped object, floating quite fast accross the sky. It slowed right down and turned direction. as it turned it had a dull silver reflection on the side towards the sun, but otherwise it was just dark(brown or black). Then it stopped, and floated higher and higher and moved towards the west. There was no engine sound that I could hear, no strings, no wings. I suppose I watched for about 10 minutes.
Color/Shape: Cigar shaped(longer than sausage!). Very dark against a light blue sky, with a dull silver reflection as it turned against the sun.
Height & Speed: As it came over the downs it was not too high, difficult to estimate but perhaps 300 feet?? and not fast, about 20 miles an hour, then it just went higher and higher and seemed to drift along the coast to the west.
TV/Radio/Press: This is the first report I have made, I don't know who you would report this sort of thing to!
Follow-up Report from Brian Vike:
It happened just as I said except I meant it came from the North, was almost directly overhead and went off to the EAST – towards Newhaven and Eastbourne. It was a sunny afternoon, blue skies with wispy white clouds. Brighton is between the South Downs and the sea, about 25 miles south of Gatwick airport and probably les than 10 miles east of Shoreham airport. As far as I know there are no military airports anywhere near. There were other witnesses, dog walkers but I do not know there names. As it was a fine afternoon, there must have been lots of witnesses in the area, golfers at the Hollingbury golf course, people on the beach etc. Another witness spoke of aircraft before I arrived at the scene, and I saw a small jet plane heading towards Shoreham (I think) about 10 minutes after the ?craft disappeared. I probably watched for about 10 minutes. There were no fins or lights that I could se. It was broad day light.
