UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: Manchester, England

Date: 05.05.2006 @17.50

Approach Direction: East to West

Departure Direction: South west

Witness Direction: North

Description: A small Bright shiny gold circular object that at first was slowly moving (E) to (W) then gather speed. The "UFO" was at vert high altitude and was close to where the moon was in the early evening sky on that day. The Object stopped then hovered for about 10 seconds and move at right angles to its original trajectory, No curve) direct right angle. Again it moved slow at first, and the just went very fast, so fast I could not focus on it when it went fast.

Color/Shape: round, Very GOLD !

Height & Speed: Height at least the same height as a commerical jet aircraft 35,000? Speeds differed from Stationery, slow to very fast

I am a keen astronomer, and to be honest I am very sceptical (before Friday of UFOs) as my theory is that I have been looking at the skies for over 30 years, and never saw a thing before. But Friday changed my mind.

I thought at first it was a metalic childs ballon, one that you see in most card shops, the helium types, usually a cartoon character, but I realised that it could not be for it was too far up in the sky to be visable. The trajectory was odd too. It travelled slowly, Like in comparrision a car doing 10MPH, and you would be viewing it from 100yards away. Then it stopped dead. and hovered for a while (I would say 5 - 10 seconds) and they from that point it moved again slowly, but at 90 degrees to the point, so if you drew a line of the flightpath it would have had a L shape, no curve, again something that made me realise it was not a balloon.

It moved a short distance and then stopped again, directly overhead. Stayed again for a number of seconds, then moved faster, to a point my eye could not focus on it.

The UFO was ball shaped, very circular, but was tiny - hence why I felt it was high in the sky. But you could see that it was a very metallic and very shiny gold colour. Not a dull gold, but a shinyness like the heat saving tin foil they put around marathon runners at the end of the race to preserve heat.

The weather condiations were a clear blue sky, there was a half moon, and very light whispy cloud, but the cloud was lower on the horizon and not overhead like the UFO.

Manchester airport is the nearest Civil aiviation airport, which is about 15 miles away, the nearest Military airport would be RAF Valley on Anglesey (about 70miles) of one of the RAF bases in Linconshire (again 70miles). No lights visable, no sound, no motions on outside of object. The area where I saw it is a flight path, and there were planes going over all night. I cannot say if one was there just before or after, but I can say I noticed at least 5 planes during the 3 hour period I was there.

The entire event lasted for over a number of minutes, but no more than 3/4. I was with a few people and pointed the UFO out to them, and all agreed that it was high and not a plane.

I tried to take a picture of the UFO with my camera phone but it was too far away to show up on the camera, even though my camera phone has very high pixel content. I have attached the picture I took, and at this point the UFO was directly over head, but I cannot see a thing in the picture, but you can see the sky conditions.
