Witness Direction: Lying on ground looking Directly up

Description: I was taking a walk in the garden when I decided to lie down and smoke a cigarette. When I intended to stand up my lighter fell over my right shoulder. As I looked up at the constellations in consternation I witnessed a bright flash. This could be attributed to an astological phenonema e.g. the death of a star e.t.c. In which case I would be proud to have seen it. However the flash seemed far too bright but did seem to be along way out in deepish space the flash was a light yellow of a piercing brightness like that of thousands of stars. It's size roughly a hundredth the size of the moon. I suppose another possible explanation as I saw a very impressive one a few weeks ago could be a meteor or shooting star entering the atmosphere directly over my head travelling directly at me! This could be true apart from the probability factor and as I saw it it seemed to be amongst stars or if you like beyond the first visible ones!
