Weather Conditions: Low scattered cloud no wind dry

Description: standing in my garden at approx 23:00 last Saturday I saw what i initialy thought was a hellicopter with its searchlight on. I soon began to realise there were no flashing red green or white lights and no sound. It was a very bright orange circular light with no beam pattern which could be looked at with no strain as with a normal searchlight. It moved slowly across the sky from the south east in a straight line breaking in and out of the clouds and then stopped and hovered over what seemed like Broomfield village. it stayed there for approx 2 minutes then move at speed a complete right angle north east. I have looked at the report for 28th June in Langley and the description is very similar. I am very sceptical about ufo sightings but this was very unusual and out of character with the normal flight paterns in this area. What was it?
