Weather Conditions: Fair cloud base was at 3.000ft

Description: Came out of the clouds on a heading of east to west a red glow turning to orange,at 1st we thought it was a aircraft but no sound apart from the distant sound of a very low pitch but high speed drone noise...think of a chinook heli but without the clatter. Just the blades rotating.

Anyway headed west for what I would say was 5miles then turned north and climbed into the clouds. As it did the sound was still there but then died off.

Where we live we are on a military flight path but not at that time of night or sound. I've have been a plane spotter for since I was 7, now 32 and never seen what we saw last night.
