June 20th 2009 : Saffron Walden, Essex, England

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: Saffron Walden, Essex

Date: June 20th 2009

Time: c. 22:30 hours

Number of witnesses: 2

Number of objects: 6

Shape of objects: Round orange lights

Weather Conditions: Very clear sky

Description: I was waiting outside my friends house while I noticed two distinctly orange lights moving at the same speed in the same direction not too distant from each other. I was shocked and continued to watch them as they moved towards the horizon, rather than gradually fading away, they faded away quickly which would suggest that they were moving very fast. This is supported by the fact that although they seemed to be fairly high, by comparison to a plane at the same altitude they were moving a lot faster and completely silently.

As they were disappearing my friend came out of his house and we witnessed another bright orange light, the exact same brightness and colour of orange. It was also moving along the same path as the previous two, at the same speed and I'm assuming the same altitude. It continued along the same path until, like the other two, it faded into the distance, shortly afterwards we noticed another, the same speed, colour, brightness and altitude. As I watched this one go along the same path as the others my friend noticed another one, coming in the same direction. At some points, some of the orange lights grew very very bright and almost looked like something burning up in the atmosphere but were far to low for this to be possible. After glowing extremely bright they went back to their normal brightness and continued as they were.

I can't remember exactly how many times this happened but I believe we saw 5 or 6 of these bright orange lights in total. They all travelled along the same path, in a straight line and at the same speed. They were all a constant bright orange, with no flashing lights like you get on a plane. I am convinced that these were not normal aircraft as we are not that far from Stanstead Airport and there are a lot of aircraft in the sky at any one time. We can usually see flashing lights on them unless they are at very high altitude. And they never travel along the same flight path so frequently, especially the first two I saw, they were not too distant from each other and I'm assuming commercial airlines never do this because of the risk of a collision.

Also, a few weeks before this I was watching a very distant light in the sky which could have been a plane, but considering how distant it appeared, by comparison to another plane at that hight it was moving a lot quicker. It then started to glow very very bright, so I thought it could have been a comet burning up in the atmosphere, but it went back to its previous brightness travelled along for a little longer then disappeared all together. I was with a few friends at the time and they all saw it to. The most shocking part of the sighting was how bright the light became, it was like nothing I'd ever seen before.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:

Hi John,

Yeah, I think that is the most likely answer.

Thanks
