Shape of objects: Circular

Weather Conditions: Clear sky small breeze

Description: A Bright orange light fairly high up which started to flicker, changed course abruptly then went out. 5 minutes later another orange light coming towards us, this one also flickered but when it went out it left a small circular 'cloud' this then moved off at speed in the opposite direction from the first one. Both were a constant height and speed. No engine noises and we live fairly near to a flight path so see lots of lights.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:

Good morning John

I have looked at the link and also at several other websites on flying chinese lanterns.

Although I have no explanation as to what it was that we did see I would say it was probably NOT a lantern. I believe it was too large and certainly didnt drift downwards once the light went out. My sons initial reaction was that it was a plane on fire such was the brightness of the orange/red colour. We live fairly close to the East Midlands flight path and it was not like anything we have previously seen.

Out of interest after speaking to a neighbour, they had seen a very bright light in the same area during the early hours of the morning a few weeks ago which again didnt appear to be a plane but couldnt decide what it was!
