Weather Conditions: Mild, clear night, no wind, bright moon, visible stars

Description: During late night stroll along beach, noticed bright orange glowing light hovering above shoreline approx 400 metres away. The light followed along the shoreline for approx 50 metres before holding a stationary position. It then slowly rose vertically & hovered 20 metres above beach before heading outwards & upwards across the sea. The light then stopped, hovered in a stationary position for a few seconds before moving off at a steeper angle at increased speed. There was no noise from the light.
