Description: I spotted a strange light passing along the Dee estuary today 29th October 2009 at 20.58 from Heswall on the Wirral peninsular. It was travelling northwards at a slow speed.

I thought it might have been a helicopter, but when I went outside there was no noise at all. We do get helicopters flying overhead from time to time and they can be heard and felt quite clearly within 1 mile. This was completely silent and moved in a haphazard kind of way. Whilst travelling northwards it appeared to be travelling in a slightly erratic way and not steadily as a helicopter or plane would.

It disappeared out of sight as it headed towards the village of Irby.

I would say it was a balloon since it was quite close and probably about the size shown in the article.
