Description: I've seen this object twice now - once in Sept 08 and yesterday. I'm sure its not a flying saucer but it's strange. Here goes:

Saw it last night above Lancaster train station. A bright orange globe which seemed to have red flashing inside. The altitude I estimate to be around 5000 ft or below. It came in from the north then turned eastwards. The turn was steady like a light aircraft would make.

Its light was enough to light up the low cloud around it.

There was no sound and thats whats odd. We get helicopters coming to the local hospital frequently and they're noisy . We get light aircraft and again you can hear the engine. There were not any port or starboard nav lights which you can generally see nor the strobe that airliners have.

The speed was consistent with a light aircraft.

I've seen satelites many times and even the space station but it definitely wasn't that.

The aircraft moved at a steady speed and course.

I'm intrigued.

The other time I saw it was from by bedroom window. Again same orange globe with red flickering - that time it was moving north to south and followed the same path as a airliner that had gone by a couple of minutes before. Same low altitude and no noise or visible nav lights.

I'm intrigued. Any suggestions? Like I said it there was no sound and it definately was at low altitude.
