UFO Sighting Report - United Kingdom

December 31st 2009 : Colchester, Essex, England

UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Dear Sir/Madam,

I thought you might be interested to know, tonight on our way to a New Years Eve Party at around 7.15pm (31st Dec) we spotted 2 lights of a golden/red colour moving across the sky, fairly low. Lower than a plan would, at a steady speed. We noticed other people looking up at these lights too.

On our way home at around 12.15am on 1st Jan, we spotted another one that moved very strangely. Not like a plan as it was moving at a steady speed, slowed dramatically, and then sped up again after a few seconds.

Once home, we looked out our windows in the direction we had came from and saw another 2. They all (but one) were heading in the direction of London.

We live in the army estate in Colchester on [deleted] Road and our friends who we spent New Years with live a 10 minutes drive from us.

I know you aren't accepting or updating your site for sightings but I thought this might be of some interest to you. It has unnerved us a little to say the least!

Kindest Regards

-----

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:

Dear John,

Thanks for your reply to my email. Those UFO balloons are the same colour as the lights we saw that night, so now I'm wondering if someone had set them off.

I can't say for sure whether they were UFO balloons or actual UFO's. They were all heading in the same direction, and one was going at a steady rate, then slowed down for a few seconds, and then sped up again. If UFO balloons are capable of this kind of movement, then I am inclined to believe they were UFO balloons.

Please let me know what you now think, as I would be interested to know.

In my reply I wrote:

"In regards to your question as to whether balloons are capable of slowing down and speeding up again I have read that they are capable of doing this depending on the air currents at the altitude at which they are flying. There are reports of 'balloons' hovering in one place for quite a while then suddenly shooting upwards and others following behind on the same flight path and doing the same thing. This causes a lot of argument as to whether it is really thermals causing this to happen and whether they are indeed balloons!

"One of the things I have found quite often is that if I ask people to look to look at the UFO balloons website I get accused of trying to say that everything is balloons and I'm just a 'debunker' but at the same time if I just post the reports without asking I get accused of being gullible and believing everything is a UFO in the sense they are alien spaceships. Guess I cannot win."
