Weather Conditions: High cloud clear night

Description: Nearly home tonight and we saw this large object / red colour slowly moving over the sky. This was definitely not any kind of aircraft from human origin

Update July 11th 2010

Recently I have been seeing a few lanterns in the sky and I have been slightly sceptical about what we saw that night the only difference with this one was the fact that it was moving in different directions not just in the same direction of the wind it also disappeared 2 or 3 times and reappeared again before vanishing suddenly just after I managed to retreive my phone from my house.

However after looking at the picture again (just out over the top of a tree I was lucky to get it really) I am certain this is not a lantern. The picture is from a Apple iphone so the rez is pretty good hopefully you will be able to do more with it and have a proper look at what it really is.

If this does turn out to be a lantern I am sorry for wasting your time but I can not see how a lantern on a calm night can go in all different directions.
