Weather Conditions: Clear but light still

Description: I saw one orange ball moving from north west to south east at about the same speed as a plane but clearly lower. It had the appearance of a ball of fire but moved in a straight line, silently. I have never seen a chinese lantern so could not rule this out but the speed of travel indicated this unlikely. It was visible for about two minutes. I have never seen anything like this before.
