Description: Walking the dog in the local church grounds, I noticed a very bright solid red light, moving in a northerly direction. There were no other navigation lights visible at all. The apparent size of the object would be the equivalent to a very bright magnitude Venus. However this was solid red and moving. There was no audible sound that I could tell. The object appeared to be very low, certainly below the scattered cloud level, I would estimate under 500 metres. The movement of the object was steady, no apparent acceleration or deceleration was apparent. After approximately 1 minute of observation, the object changed direction and flew eastwards until it gradually disappeared from sight, taking about 30 seconds to do so.

I have a background in amateur astronomy and have never seen such a light in the sky before, certainly not a plane, I have never seen such a bright navigation light on a plane, or failed to spot the green nav light and white strobe, which were not apparent on this object. I am not speculating what it is, but in my experience, is unidentified.
