Description: My father, grandmother and myself went into our back garden because we heard a loud crackling sound, like electrical sparks. When we first went into the garden we could see nothing. Then over the top of the church beyond our garden there appeared a huge black cigar shaped object, and at the rear end of this object green sparks were falling like liquid metal, making a loud sparkling sound. Some the sparks fell onto the church roof. It had no visible means of propulsion and made no other sound.

It frightened us greatly because we thought it was in trouble and perhaps it would explode. It passed directly above us and over the house. It had strange symbols along its side in a kind of glowing black against the black background colour. it was reported in a small section of the Evening News the following day. I am nearly seventy now and have never told anyone about this except my wife. I know that this object was not from this world. It was huge - bigger than two or three jumbo jets.

The report in the papers the following day said that the newspaper's telephone switchboard was jammed with calls about it from all over London and that aircraft pilots over the North Sea had reported seeing it and heard loud explosions as if it had detonated. The image of this object has stayed with me all my life, and has cause me to laugh at critics I see on tv who dismiss such things. I tell you this story before I die so that you know I have nothing to gain from it. We are not alone and we are being visited. I have been privileged to have witnessed such a thing and still feel quite frightened about what this might eventually mean for people on this planet.
