Weather Conditions: Dry and dark

Description: Unsure of the month but the sky was dark. Driving from the cinema at Jarman's park to the M1 junction when a circle or sphere about the size of the moon but bright white in colour shot across the sky, stopped suddenly without slowing, hovered for about a second (slight up and down movements) then shot off again. There seemed to be no acceleration/deceleration - the object was either incredibly fast or still. Was almost at the M1 at this point and there was few street lights at the time so sky was very dark.

TV/Radio: Incident reported to the local paper - Hemel Hempstead Gazette in the letters section. The week after, another person wrote in to confirm they had seen the same and could not identify the object.
