UFO SIGHTING REPORTHodnett, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, EnglandDecember 30th/31st 1996UFOINFO Sighting Form Report Location: Hodnett, Shrewsbury, Shropshire Date: Either 30/12/96 or 31/12/96 - I know it was around New Years Eve. Approach Direction: West Departure Direction: South? Witness Direction: South Description: I've never reported this story and it's a few years ago but I feel that maybe someone else might have seen this too? I was driving home with my son(at the time 18 months old) and my partner along the A53 from a trip to Cumbria. When we reached Turnhill, over in the fields to the west I spotted a strange very bright light, and pointed this out. It was large maybe 20 - 30ft and we were approx 1/2 mile away. It seemed to be rotating, moving somehow. The conditions were foggy and very cold. We commented that it might have been a New Years Eve rave party - with strobe lights. We carried on heading South having assumed it was something to do with a party. However, just before Hodnett, out nowhere the light appeared next to our car - spinning and pulsing, sometimes it would contract and get brighter and then it would expand and grow dimmer. It seemed to track our car all the way to Shrewsbury. It got really close sometimes maybe 2 ft from the car and then it would disappear across the hedges and reappear again somwhere else. I remember joking that it was like something out of the X Files. At one point I really wanted to stop the car but I'm gad that I didn't! We passed plenty of cars, I'm hoping someone else might remember this? Once we got to the other side of Shrewsbury it had gone and didn't reappear. Color/Shape: White light, rotating, strobe, generally round - but changing. Height & Speed: lost it in/around Shrewsbury TV/Radio/Press: Don't think it was.
