UFO SIGHTING REPORT
PAXTON ILLINOIS
March 9th 2004
Name: Ken
Location: Paxton, IL, USA
Date: around 9:15pm or a few minutes after
Approach Direction: looks like it was going from the Northeast to the south west direction
Departure Direction: none
Witness Direction: east
Description: Just a large flaming ball. I figured it was just a large meteorite but you never know. It was rather large and was still big when it hit the tree line at the area of 10 Mile Grove outside of Paxton, IL in ford county USA
It was a few hundred feet above the tree line when I noticed it in the corner of my eye. I watched it come down until it hit the tree line. I think it hit inside of the area within 10 mile grove which has 3 ponds and a small forest... unless it was farther away than it appeared to be then I wouldn't have a clue where it landed but could point in the right direction to search. If it was farther away than the ten mile grove areas (in relation to RT9) then it had to be HUGE. It was still intact once it hit the tree line.
Color/Shape: Yellow-white flames
Height & Speed: It was a few hundred feet above the tree line when I noticed it in the corner of my eye. I watched it come down until it hit the tree line. I don't know how fast it was going. It came down quickly but steady. It wasn't insanley fast like a blur... it was like watching a car buzz down the freeway I guess.
TV/Radio/Press: none, just reported it to the Ford county Sheriff department but they probally won't do anything.
Follow-up by Brian Vike:
The date of the sighting was 3-09-04
It was round... a ball of flame... at least at the face of it.
I saw no sparks, just flames. I watched it for maybe 10-15 seconds, it was
already pretty close to the tree line at this point. Then it fell below the
tree line. There is a tiny forest preserve there (private property), I think
it fell behind it.
As large as the fireball was it had to be at the very least several feet in
diameter. If it was not as close as I thought it was then it was probably
really big.
The weather was calm. and no aircraft were in the area... but we are in the
middle of nowhere .
It was coming down at an angle from northeast to south west ( or maybe just
east to west). I police most likely didn't do anything about the report...
Ford County is known for having a pretty worthless county police force.
