Location: East Penn Township, PA, USA (near lehighton, carbon county)

Date: 01/25/2005 1815 eastern time

Approach Direction: Coming from the west

Departure Direction: possibly south

Witness Direction: facing west

Description: I was driving home on rte 895 heading west and saw a flat bar shaped stretch of white lights heading toward me. I at first thought it was a plane, but then realized it was very large and very low, it veered south toward the valley along the blue mountains and was probably only 100 to 200 feet above the ground. It made a sharp turn and headed back toward the highway as I slowed down to almost a stop to get a better look at it. There is nothing but old abandoned quarries, some farmland and woodlands along this stretch and there would be nowhere large enough to land whatever this was. As soon as I slowed down enough and was within a 1/4 mile of the object it made a sharp right turn toward the mountains and promptly vanished. I turned off my radio and opened my window and heard no sounds at all during this time, and the skies were relatively clear.

Color/Shape: Flat bar shape white lights

Height & Speed: 100 to 200 feet above the ground, moving alomost fluidly, speed variable, sometimes very fast, at other times alomost floating
