UFOINFO Sighting Form Report

Location: Hayward Hills, Hayward, CA / USA

Date: October 20th 8:45pm

Approach Direction: bay

Departure Direction: north east

Witness Direction: Could have been south west

Description: My son (7-years-old) commented on the moving star while I was driving. I watched it for a bit while I drove home - another 2 miles, just past CSU.

The first thing I noticed is that it looked like it nearly collided with a plane - like they shared the same space for a second.

I lost sight of it so I don't know if it was the same craft that I watched when I got home. We stopped in the cul-de-sac to watch this star-like object move slowly to the sides and up and down. It was slow and random.

I drove up the drive way and got out of the car. My son and I watched the craft rise ever so slowly. I was not even sure it was moving.

Also, there were so many regular planes in the sky that seemed relatively low but were silent.

Anyway, the star-like craft got larger as it moved toward us. Moving faster now, but still slow, it passed over us. There appeared to be three lights that blinked in a triangular pattern and from what we could tell, the craft was round.

Still, there were other planes silently buzzing around the sky.

Color/Shape: round, 3 lights in a triangle shape - orange and red maybe. They blinked randomly.

Follow-up information from Brian Vike:

Q. - Do you remember what the weather conditions were like that evening Jennifer ?

A. - Clear and cool, but not cold

Q. - How long were you able to watch the object for ? (approx length of time)

A. - In total, about 5 minutes

Q. - Describe the area in which you made the sighting. Is it near an airport? An Air Force Base? A military or research installation of any kind?

A. - It may have been over the bay, south of Oakland airport, north of San Jose airport, and west of San Francisco airport. No military bases to speak of

Q. - Did the object make any sound as it passed over head ?

A. - None

Q. - A rough guess on this question. Since there were three lights, how large would you think the object may have been, say holding out your hand, at arms length, using your thumb, or whichever to estimate the size ?

A. - Seems that is was not too high, like a helicopter - which were in the area - in fact, one past over us after the object. The object moved slower and was a bit higher. Maybe it was a little bigger than a helicopter, but round. It seemed round but I could not be certain

Q. - Did the object travel on a straight flight path from direction to direction ?

A. - First it went straight up, then the light became intense as it came toward us - changing direction no from straight up to heading north east. On this path, it was rather straight but did not maintain a constant speed. It seemed to go slower or faster at times. In fact, as it went over it was very slow after it went over then sped up again

Q. - And would you estimate the object was at a high altitude, or low ? (another guess question)

A. - Low

Q. - If there is anything else you can add, please do.

A. - My 7-year-old watched as well. he may be able to provide a more objective report - details that did not stay with me. After reporting the sighting, I read one from San Jose that was posted day earlier. The star-like description coincided with my observation.

I was a bit jazzed by the experience. Does this happen often and most of us fail to notice? It was odd that this craft, obviously not a plane, shared the sky with several helicopters. I am guessing they were there because of the craft. But no one speaks of this. Also, after I reported it and called my husband, I went outside and there was no activity save the commercial planes going to the Oakland airport. All of that activity, then nothing.

I don't know if this helps, but I had a such an experience about 6 years ago but the craft was totally different. I was driving from California back to Colorado. I think we were in Nevada. There was a teen-age girl with me up front. It was like 3:00 a.m. and the land was flat, not may trees. It was terribly dark. Miles ahead, we spotted a light hovering in the distance. I thought it was the front of a train but it could not be because it went up, down, right, and left - within a small area. We watched in confusion trying to determine what this was. I thought it wasn't any mode of transportation but some odd people out in the middle of nowhere operating a huge prompt of some sort. Anyway, this thing just hovered for a while as we drove closer, not even a mile away. We started getting spooked, then the thing took off across the horizon and an incredible speed - faster than any train I ever saw. When we got to the area where there should have been tracks or a road or something, there was nothing. The girl next to be started to cry. I didn't now what to think.
