Description: July 29, 2006 was the perfect summer night. My friends, Dave and Lucille, and I decided to have coffee on the deck overlooking Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey's largest lake. While star gazing, Dave noticed a bright white white light with flashing red and green lights, and said what the heck is that! At first glance we all thought it must be a plane, but after a few minutes we realized it was just hovering in the same spot, not moving, so it could not be a plane. We continied to watch it hover for at least 45 minutes and it was at a very high altitude. We could see airplanes flying at what appeared to be 20,000 feet or better and this object was higher then that. The object would quickly dart to the right, then do a circle and stop in the same position it was. My friends called their son out to the deck and he brushed it off as a satellite and went back inside. I actually called the Jafferson Township Police at 12:10AM to report this, but I think he thought I was crazy. Lucille decided to get binoculares to see if we could view it better. Looking through the binoculares you could see it was the shape of a crystal ball (similar to NY's New Years ball), then it would change form into a flat line and it started doing zigzags and figure eights. At about 1:00AM we called other friends to come over and see this thing but as soon as they arrived the center white light faded out and the flashing red and green lights moved very fast to the west, northwest and disappeared in the horizon.
