Location of Sighting: South Elgin.

Full Description of event/sighting: I was driving east on route 20 and to my left I saw something shooting through the sky. It was coming down at a 90 degree angle and it was very fast. It looked like it was crashing. When I saw it disappear below the trees I was listening for the crash but I didn't hear anything. I also kept looking for smoke but never saw any. I watched the news to see if they were reporting it, but they didn't.
When I first saw it, I thought it was a UFO but it did look like the sun and it had red-orangish , grey flames toward the back of it. So I now, do believe it was a fireball.
It was huge and it looked like it was something out of a movie. It was also the first night of day light savings time, so it was still light outside. Which means I couldn't have mistaken it for anything else in the sky.
I'm really shocked that so few people saw it.
When I went to work on Monday (the day after my sighting) I was telling my co-workers and one of the women stopped me and asked what time I had seen it. I replied around 7:00pm and she said she saw it too-but at the time she didn't know what it was and blew it off.
Thank you to the witness for the report.
