Shape of objects: Cone

Weather Conditions: Clear, dark sky

Description: At about 7:30 at night, while walking home with a group of 3 friends, I turned around to say something to my friend who was fooling around. As I am turning, I see a large cone of white light, with it's base to the ground, in the sky. It was much larger and brighter than any star, yet the light seemed to originate from a single point. After about 5 seconds, the light dims quickly and ceases to be visible even in the absence of clouds. All three friends with me also saw the cone, and so did other friends at different locations about 2 miles away. The object made no noise, like a helicopter or plane would.
